Looking for a new large SUV. We bought an Audi Q7 but after two long distance road trips have decided that seat height is a crucial thing. Looking at the new '25 Expedition, but wondering if anyone had a different take. Are there going to be deals on '24 Escalades/Denalis? Also, can someone fill me in on the complaint against the GM 6.2L?

They all drink gas, they will have some repairs down the road, even the Toyotas now.

If you are looking for a great deal, look at the 2024 V8 Nissan Armada's. If you don't need bells and whistles it may be the most reliable non-luxury large suv on the market right now.

If you go V6 Turbos, Fords been doing the same one the longest.

I just got 7K off MSRP last weekend on a Denali. The down side is you may not get exactly what you want and far as colors, options, etc. I love it so far

I would check out Laura Ford / Buick GMC for an idea of discounts on outgoing 2024 models. Some deals to be had (off of ridiculous MSRPs that is..)

Thanks for all the replies. I think wife prefers Ford or GM, but the Armada is a good idea.

At this point I guess we'll wait on the '25 expeditions. From the photos it looks like the changes are going to make that a much nicer looking vehicle.

Have a 24 Expedition Max w/ HD Trailer Tow Package as well. 17ish mpg mixed highway, city, towing. I prefer it over my parents suburban.

That said, the 3.0L Diesel on GM's has me intrigued.

I would prefer a max, but she parks in a downtown Houston garage so that is not an option. I find the Expedition to be more comfortable for long haul rides than the GM products. But the GM products def look nicer.

We were coming from an Explorer so initially looking at Expeditions in October. Ended up with a 24 Sequoia for about 11k under MSRP. I really like the big, chunky interior - feels more like a truck than most SUVs.

That's the right answer to the wrong question. He wants new.

BTW, an automotive Youtuber that I watch, Ben Hardy, just bought his wife a Gen 2 Sequoia. We have a matching pair of them.

Bought a 22 with less than 10k miles last year. Love it.

Wow!

That's insane! How much negotiating? Neighbors just got a new Sequoia and were bragging about 2000 off sticker.

Really is a shame you can't monetize your schtick.

Or maybe have you and I'm the fool?

Escalade has a refresh for '25 so whatever 24s are left are probably discounted. Car gurus shows about 100 of them in DFW and prices up to about 8% off being advertised. After negotiation you could probably get to 10+% off.

Have owned two Tahoes since 2008. The first until 2015, and the second will be until next month. My current one has 130k miles and has started to have multiple issues. The paint failing being one of them. I take very good care of my vehicles, so it's frustrating that it hasn't lasted longer.

After doing a ton of research and test driving, i just reserved a '25 Sequoia TRD Pro. The drive experience far exceeds any GM V8 I have experienced. The cargo space and third row isn't the best, but I'd take that for reliability. The Sequoia TRD Pros also hold their value like crazy. (Just test drove a '23 with 15k miles and it was the same price as a '25, brand new).

Yes. Everyone I have talked to, who has actually owned them, hasn't had issues. They all love it.

So far there have been issues with oil leaks from the block causing motor failure, some electrical issues and also bad alternators.

Even if his sequoia does have problems it at least holds it value way more than anything else. I guarantee the sequoia isn't any less reliable than any other suv on the market.

I would agree. Toyota, Ford, GM, Dodge all have issues to some degree.

This. There's a reason they rarely make it to the lot. Most dealerships have a waitlist. It was very difficult to find one to even test drive. Also made in the U.S.
