1st nearly new truck I've bought in 17 years. '23 Standard issue Trail Boss/5.3. Pretty stock overall but I'm not a man of many wants, needs and desires. 27K miles on the clock.

1st time to buy thru CarMax but wanted to give them a shot. My dad was a salesman at their East Ft Worth location for over a decade and he always spoke highly of them.

Only ding is the pass side running board is a slight bit mangled but that's pretty much it.

We will see where we are with the lifter lottery in 30,000 or so miles…

I'll look it up. What other things should I be modding? Gonna get a bed cover of some sort.

I do hear these get stolen so is there a preferred system to help deter that from happening? I know a determined thief will overcome anything… just want to make it a PITA.

Ravelco, in my opinion, is still the gold standard for anti-theft solutions

The siren inside the cab, well hidden. Go see Pat G to tune it, he is in Victoria.

I can't tell if that's a 77 or 78 but great memories in that vintage of Chevy Truck.

Tis a '77. My uncle bought it new at Friendly Chevrolet in Dallas back in the day.

Little video I shot and ripped narration from a 77 Chevy promo:

A couple updates:

Added Rough Country hard trifold bed cover, Lasfit LED backup and license plate lights, a hitch cover from Texas Truck Riggins off Boonville in Bryan, put black "Trail Boss decals on bedsides and Plasti-dipped the fender badges/lettering. I also have a Range Technologies DFM/Auto Stop disabler on the way.

I'll be adding a leveling kit in a few weeks then I'll be done (for a little while)

Nice. Put the badges on yourself?

Just dropped off my wife's vehicle to be chrome deleted and they're painting all the badges black.

All original badges etc. I just used Plasti-Dip from Lowe's. It's in the rattle can paint aisle.

Just clean badges/letters, tape off area around badge (bout an inch or so all around), cover surrounding area to protect from overspray then give it 4-6 coats.

Let it dry and pull the excess away. Super easy.

Nice work on getting tape down in those small crevices

That's the fun part: I didn't have to do that. You literally paint all over then let dry and pull away from what you don't want covered.

It's not permanent so I can remove at any time:

Think this would work well on a chrome Explorer badge on the liftgate? Been looking for something to cover up the discoloration that's happened the last couple of winters.

Probably. Give it a good cleaning and go for it! You'll only be out $5-10 in all.
