Price Drop Coming for RAM?

I'm find myself getting close to biting the bullet and getting a new truck. I have some serious miles to cover this spring/summer and my '08 Ram, although she's always been a strong and relatively trouble-free workhorse, is about to be handed down to my teenager for more local work.

There's videos all over YouTube from the auto-insider hype hustlers talking big drops from MSRP of 35% or more coming down the line from Stellantis... I'm assuming this is to clear out the '24 inventory.

Anyone round here seeing/hearing this kind of stuff? Nonetheless, I gotta get something soon whether it's true or just clickbait.

Ram still has nearly 500 brand new 2023 models produced in 2022 sitting on dealer lots for slightly under MSRP. They have over 1200 2024 models in inventory. You'd think they would be trying to clear those out before offering discounts on newer inventory.

Stellantis is going to be interesting to watch this year with all of their "excess" inventory issues.

Killing off your most well known and popular engine while having significantly higher financing than your competitors was a bad combo.

Just to add: I'm not saying Ram or else for me. I'm open for Chevy or Ford as well. I do know that all new truck products have issues, Big 3 or otherwise.

It's a pick your poison kinda deal I suppose.

Who is going to make the first "fire sale" joke?

Someone on this board will do it.

When I traded in my Ram last weekend I got less than I expected even on a trade. When I asked about it it was because they were discounting new 2025 Ram trucks so heavily and about 7% off a 2024. After owing my Ram, I see why. Meanwhile at the sister GMC dealership, nothing off a '25.

I'll never own another Stellantis vehicle

What did you end up going with?

We ended up getting a Yukon Denali because my wife needed a new car. She quit her job so she had to give back the company Model 3. I will probably get a 2500 HD AT4 or a F250 when I'm ready for a truck again later in the year. I really want the GMC, but you can still delete the Fords so I'm torn.

Have not been following closely. I have an 07 with 350k plus.

Starting to consider a new truck. What are the problems with the new RAM HDs?

Mine was a 2020 1500. Traded with 56,000 mi. I replaced the dash twice, sun visors 3 times driver & twice passenger. All exterior plastic trim replaced. Driver side mirror replaced. Exhaust leak. Front end ball joints needed replacing when I traded it. Sliding rear view mirror trim warped.

How many of these videos have been made the last five years? Prices still remain inflated while everyone keeps saying a huge drop is coming.

Have you considered the 6.6 gasser in the AT4?

Mine just went into the shop today. 2023 1500 with 35K miles.

Broken window switch in the 2nd row, and slight oil leak at the rear main. Not a massive leak...i noticed it around 12/20th, wiped it all off where the metal and gasket area were completely clean and made an emphasis to check it two weeks later. Small oil droplets accumulating again.

Considering picking up a '24 3500 Cummins they are well discounted at Mark Dodge in LCLA but the '25 gets the new ZF 8 speed. The extra gear should really shine in the low rpm 6 cyl. I saw somewhere that it was like a 30% rpm reduction at highway speed.

I've fot a 2019 Ram 1500 with 132k miles on it. Knock on wood no issues. I'd consider another one when the time comes.

Not really. I just like driving a Diesel and have missed my Powerstroke F250 since my wife murdered it.

I love mine too. Just a little disappointed with the leak discovery. Otherwise it's been great. Tows like a champ.

Well, Stellantis is in serious financial trouble. Their famed CEO resigned due to mismanagement. They have the largest sitting inventory of any car maker out there. Dealers have been begging for discounts and he wouldn't budge. So now they can cut prices or write everything off.

The Ram dealerships in the DFW area are modifying the duallies with oversized wheels/tires and lifts and pricing them in the 115-120K range. If they cant sell them stock at a cheaper price, what makes them think they can sell them with 5K in add ons and them mark up 20-30K over sticker?

Based on my experience with the new "Allison" GM 10 speed vs the previous tried & true Allison 6 speed I'd get a '24 unless you don't plan on actually needing to use the truck when it's in the shop constantly for issues.

What trim level is it? If its a Laramie thats probably okay. If its a Bighorn or Lone Star then i'm waiting to get one less than $40k for my boys to drive.

I was just in a local transmission shop last week. My buddy was visiting and while here his transmission went out. In talking with the local guy, he said he either couldn't or wouldn't (can't remember which) work on these GM 10 speeds.

I definitely agree the new 10spds are trash. The new ZF is really a ZF medium duty transmission so there is that. But the 68rfe is trash too I just know it can be fixed. I have a 2020 Chevy gasser now with the 6 speed that's been solid.

The other problem I have is I kinda want a mega cab but you can't option the 50gallon tank with the mega cab.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was both. They're obviously overly complicated especially since people keep having issues with the valve body (my issue). My buddy who has a similar truck (who hasn't had transmission issues) just received a bulletin about upgraded valve body parts to be installed even though he's out of warranty.
