Towing the camper today to Grapevine and heard a loud thump on the driver's front side/tire. Pulled over and checked tires on truck & camper, everything seemed good.

Tried to accelerate to merge back on the highway and had no power, blowing white smoke out the tailpipe. Pulled over and popped the hood and it looks like the downpipe from the turbo disconnected for some reason. Idk if there was too much pressure or what caused it.

Had it towed to the dealership since it's still under warranty.

Didn't make it 10,000 miles after getting it back for the transmission issues and this happens. Definitely considering getting rid of it this time. Time to test drive a Ford and a Ram I guess. Or get a GMT800 LBZ.

Document everything, including how much time the truck spends in the shop. Had success with my lemon law suit against GM

I attempted to lemon law it with the transmission and no dice.

Does it have to be the same issue over and over to lemon law it or multiple issues continuously?

If you just got it back from a trans swap, its a very good chance that they just didn't tighten the boost pipe up good enough and you towing a trailer would make a lot of boost.

This isn't a defect as much as it is sloppy work. Turbo vehicles blow boost piping off all the time. They might get loose over time, or you just didn't tighten up good enough last time you changed the air filter. You just slide it back on and tighten the clamp.

I doubt this would count toward a lemon law claim.

I sure hope that's all it is but since they were the last ones to touch it and it's not the first time I pulled the camper loaded down since getting it back, I didn't want to take any chances trying to fix something that would later invalidate a warranty claim. And it's still under warranty.

How did you get the camper home?

We were only 15 minutes from the house so my wife Ubered home while I waited for the tow truck and got my 8.1L suburban while I adjusted the hitch for it. We then hooked up the suburban and continued our trip.

At least it happened close to home!

Man I miss the GMT800 LBZ days. Didn't know how good we had it!

But if you're looking for new, Ram is my preference at the moment.

I looked at one the other day when I went to get tools out of my truck. Thinking about test driving a Ram 2500 Rebel tomorrow, not sure how they'll do on trade though. Luckily it's the same dealership family.

Let us know your thoughts on the Ram. I have been eyeing the rebel package

Man, I just hate that you're dealing with this. Bad enough for a personal vehicle, but worse for a business one, I'm sure.

I grew up in a GM family and loved their vehicles. I just don't think they're the same company they were back when.

Really liked it, enjoyed driving it. Seats were quite comfortable. Unfortunately we couldn't come to a deal as GM is sending an engineer to figure out what's wrong with my current truck so ergo they cannot get a trade in price on it. The Chevrolet service department won't even diagnose it until he shows up.
