Porsche Certified Pre-owned vs Extended Warranty

The wife wants a Cayenne, and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with Porsche Certified Pre-owned. The CPO warranty seems decent (2 extra years/unlimited miles), but also, it seem to add a lot to the price. I'm wondering if it would be better to just buy a regular pre-owned and add an extended warranty. Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated.

CPO is just an extended warranty rolled into the price of the vehicle. There is no difference between buying an extended warranty and buying CPO.

I have a 2017 911 C2S that I bought from a dealership that is still under the CPO warranty. Unfortunately, I have had to take it into the shop a couple of times but I have had all of the visits covered. Even though the car had very few miles on it for a 2017, having CPO definitely gave me a peace of mind beyond what a PPI would have given me.

This is exactly what I'm looking for in about a month. Going CPO for that reason. Just want the piece of mind.

I don't know that this can be generalized across all Porsche CPO purchases, can it? It's going to depend on the age of the vehicle and the miles on it at purchase. Even the Porsche CPO brochure outlines three distinct scenarios for CPO coverage.

I think the OP's question is more nuanced to the vehicle he's looking at and the terms of a separate pre-owned warranty.

The 991 in question is out of new car warranty. So his options are 2 yrs & unlimited miles for the CPO premium or some dealer offered warranty for X years and Y miles for $Z.

buy one from carmax and get their maxcare warranty. usually cheaper than CPO and you have the option for more years as well. and you can take it to the porsche dealership for service.

I'm not familiar with Porsche but I've asked a dealer to remove the CPO warranty and discount the price by the amount they pay for the CPO warranty.

Looking at the Porsche website it looks like they offer various combinations of CPO warranties, roadside assistance, and scheduled service. All of which can be purchased separately.

I have talked with a lot of fellow Porsche owners that were less than thrilled with CPO. Mine are all semi-old, so I don't have personal experience.

What model year? Porsche will CPO most anything up to 16yrs old.

11-18 Cayenne, CPO might be worth the added cost due to the transfer case issues. 19+, I'd see if Fidelity's top warranty is a better value.

My wife has had two Panamera CPOs. The first was a 2015 and now her 2024. They always treated both as a no-ask no BS when it comes to both service and any repairs. The 2015 needed new motor mounts at 85K miles. They didn't flinch. Just gave her a loaner (Cayenne) for a week while they had it. The 2024 was de-badged by the PO and she had them reinstall the OEM badges…again no questions asked. The 2015 had 8400 miles when we bought it and traded it with 92K. We just bought several sets of tires, but never put a dime in it for repairs, even though it had some stuff done. The 2024 had 3600 and so far we are not out any money, but it's only been less than 2 months.

So you had the CPO warranty on the 2015 up to 92K miles?! Or was it just a really well built car as long as you took it in for maintenance?
