I've always been a F150 guy. Had my 02 for about 8 years and 180+k miles. I really regret trading her in and wished I kept her as a **** around truck, I currently have my 13 ecoboost lariat that I've had for 10 yrs and 150k miles. I like to keep my trucks for awhile and don't really put a ton of miles on them compared to other truck owners. My 13 is starting to act a little funny, smelling burning oil through the vents when coming to a stop, I've got the P0430 code which I've read its probably time for a new cat, when I went to San Antonio a couple of weeks ago and would go to pass someone on the highway it would jerk sort of and seemed to have trouble getting up and going. I really never loved this truck to begin with and I could easily fix the issues but I'm starting to feel like 10yrs is plenty. I just have to get over the idea of having a truck payment and them being so high now a days.

Anyways, what newer trucks are going to last 10+ years and are reliable with proper routine maintenance? Obviously at the top of my list is the F150. I've heard the 2.7L is super reliable and a fantastic engine. Is this true? Definitely don't want a Dodge. I haven't really looked at GM's lineup but I know from reading about failed transmissions and other major components in their newer vehicles they sort of worry me. I'm not 100% against them but don't want to deal with that nonsense on a newer truck. Tundra? Titan? How are those? Wouldn't be against an F250 gasser but in my opinion I don't really do enough towing or anything to justify a larger truck like that.

As I've gotten older, all the bells and whistles in trucks and cars just piss me off due to the cost and complexity when they inevitably break. I don't need video mirrors, or 8 different cameras, or 10 position tailgates, or massaging seats etc. I don't need a luxury truck like I thought I did when I was younger and bought my current truck. It's going to get dirty, used, scratched, dinged, driven through mud and pastures, etc. I really want my column shifter back from the 02. I know some XLs and XLTs offer them. I also want a bench seat and it seems those are hard to come by.

Any good manufacturer deals going on currently?

sounds like you want a Nissan Titan. But with 2024 being the last year I am not sure how many years into the future parts become an issue. but sounds like 8-10 years you are fine.

plenty of tech but nothing outrageous, solid V8 platform, consistent muted styling. 5 year 100k bumper to bumper warranty, column shifter.

cookeville nissan in TN has the best prices around the nation that I've seen when shopping titans.

maybe an F150 STX or XLT. those feel like the sweet spot in the F150 lienup without all the gadgetry. doubt you are getting a bench seat without a work truck variant in the new models

Dad has the 2.7L. Not sure how many miles but it's over 100k and has towed a flat bed with a jeep on it no problem.

STX would be perfect except for the bench seat. You can only get that in a XL or a XLT. You can always reach out if you have any questions. Contact info in my profile.

Weird, my 2019 SXT had the bench seat...I removed it and installed a center console, still have it if OP needs one

I think I may have missed the 1.9, I'm not seeing it on any Ford Dealers website. I'm only seeing 3.9% for 60months. Which still isn't terrible.

2.7 has been fantastic for me. 87k miles. Zero issues (knock on wood). Pull our boat and ranch feed.

Just bought a 2024 f250 xl with the stx package. Needed the bench seat for my wife and 4 kids. Only had it a couple months but absolutely love it.
Had a lariat f150 before and call me crazy but I've appreciated getting back to simpler bells and whistles.

Pretty sure the transmission is shared between GM and Ford, both with some issues, though GM has evidently fixed the whine more than Ford. Not a functional issue, but an annoyance for some. Other than that, if you want the column shifter and some fancy stuff, but not too much, you're probably looking at an XLT.

I looked at the STX for my kids recently and it is still overpriced (even in this market). Over $40k for a really basic truck. I was expecting to find deals in the high thirties by now.

Ram 1500 classic 4x4 with a bench seat is $30k new out the door. Almost no extras. Meets all criteria except its a dodge.

I got 2.9% back in June through Ford, for 48 months.

STX is the best value out there, IMO. Looks good and has enough features that you don't feel like you're just driving a basic work truck. I have a 2020 with the 5.0, and if I had to get a new truck tomorrow it would probably be another STX.

Sorry about that. I could have sworn I saw 1.9 for 60 the other day. It might have been for the end of November.

I got 1.9% in June on a F150. Probably just depends. Here's a link to a1.9% offer. https://www.westwayford.com/global-incentives-search/2024-Ford-F-150-Truck-Offers-US2024FRD7fd6d930ae808314f49dc56.htm?srsltid=AfmBOopZglcBaCTUk1mtB8S7hWiJDgko_AE48rzJwSI72Iaa_mF1gUvX
