This truck has always had a terrible ride. But now with over 100k miles it's time for shocks and other maintenance.

The truck is completely stock. Even still has the AFM active, which should really trigger some folks! Lol. Has anyone put different shocks or shock and spring combo that rides better than the factory stuff?

I've got a friend with a '17 F150 and the difference in ride quality is shocking.

BTW, this is my Wife's truck. I drive a station wagon like a real man.

Bumping because I am interested in this as well. Trying to decide if I should trade in my 2018 Silverado or make some upgrades to it and keep it another 4 years.

I think the newer trucks ride rougher due to higher weight and towing capacity. I have a 2002 3/4 ton and a 2015 3/4, and the 2015 is much rougher ride.

You can probably remove some stiffness with softer shocks, but I'd bet most of it is in the springs, so you are stuck.

Also, you might consider lower psi in the tires. On my 3/4, it's rated for 80psi, but I only run 50 when empty

I mean, everyone knows you gotta replace shocks every 50,000 miles…

Potato wagon is the word use to describe my 2021 GMC's ride. I changed the shocks to Bilstein 4600s hoping to smooth it out. Not sure I can tell a difference.

Popular choice seems to be the Bilstein 5100. Though it looks like the sample size incudes a bunch of bro-dozers with lift kits.

Hopefully they work as well on stock 2wd stuff.

My other option is to go with lighter springs and add airbags to the back. We don't tow often, but when we do it'll be 6 to 7 thousand pounds.
