I started the thread on Tesla Model 3/Y but I'd also be interested in hearing ownership experiences for anyone who owns the F150 Lightning as well. Thanks.

I have a 2023 XLT ER with 9k miles and 9 months of ownership

I have DC fast charged 3 times in the 9 months and two of those were on a week long road trip. Houston to CS, CS to Bastrop to charge to Boerne to Garner to Lost Maples to Fredericksburg to Enchanted Rock back to Bastrop bucees to charge to home. Small bit of preplanning, but everywhere we stayed either had charging or a plug to charge.

I used it to power my house for 3 days after Beryl with the 7.2kw in the bed (available to most F150s)

We use it to tailgate softball tournaments, no big deal as they are all in the woodlands or conroe. Same for cubscout camping trips and the beach.

Trips to East Texas to hunt are easy and we have a 50amp there if I wanted to do 100mph into a headwind. I have not tried going to South Texas yet and it might not be fun.

I have pulled our 12' with the ranger and the 20' around town with a 4th of july float. You do lose range, but it depends on speed and the what's on the trailer. When the 20' is empty, the trucks efficiency is the same.

The frunk is great for storing gear when its raining

Every morning I wake up with a "full tank"

It's an F150, the UI, accessories and most parts.

It's fits our life. I have a coworker who drives to college station or some other random town every weekend and lives in an apartment. It's not for him.

It works really well for people who understand that owning a truck is silly most days.

I have a 22 Lightning and 23 Powerboost.

I'll talk about the Lightning here. 40K miles since Jan 23 with my XLT SR.

I've had only one driveline issue and that's the level 2 charging at home or public doesn't like over 8kw. They reflashed and had to replace the onboard charger. Fixed that.

The other issue was the frunk struts were going haywire and wouldn't open and close correctly. They replaced and recalibrated and it was fine after.

DCFC is great and has no problem.

Replaced tires at 35K due to edge wear with Defender LtX MS2.

I've driven it to New Orleans from H town and all over Texas with it. Charging infrastructure is only getting better.

Thanks for the thoughtful responses. I think the Lightning would fit my use case pretty well. We have my wife's car for road trips so I think the Lightning would be great for all of my local miles. The frunk solves one of my biggest hesitations in buying a truck (lack of trunk space) and I love the idea that it can power my house. I've seen used XLTs with low miles for low to mid $40k.

Let me know if you'd like to drive one without a dealer breathing down your neck.

Are we seeing any year end deals on these from the lot? I was told by a platinum owner that lariat trim is the sweet spot from a cost/feature stand point.

What is the true story with the tax credit? Do I need to act in this year? I see a lot of different bits of information out there. Some FAKE news I imagine.

I was hoping to get in and out around 45k

He also mentioned tax credits, wasn't talking used.

True. Still probably cheaper to used. They seem to depreciate pretty hard.
