We had the rotors turned and pads replaced on my wife's 2018 Odyssey at the dealer about 16,000 miles ago and we're getting some pulsation again. The dealer says the rotors need to be turned again and that the brakes weren't really designed that well for such a large vehicle. Can anyone shed some light on this problem? It only has 79,000 miles on it and has been a good vehicle other than chewing through brakes. She's not an aggressive braker either.

Rotors are cheap enough. If replacing pads again I'd replace rotors too

My guess is she floors it from the light and stops in as short a distance as possible when you aren't around.

We got rid of our '20 Oddysey for same reason (our third Oddysey '16 and '18 previously). Talked to head mechanic and he said they've kept adding stuff to the odysseys without considering the weight implications of the light weight frame and suspension. We had sixteen wheel alignments, two sets of tires, front suspension bushings and struts replaced before we ditched it - all by 32k miles. Switched to a Toyota Sienna and haven't looked back. Good riddance. The 16 was pretty bullet proof but the '18 started having alignment and tire wear issues. The '20 was a disaster.

She may be riding the brake with her left foot while pressing the gas pedal with her right. A friend's mom did this when I was a kid and she had to have her brakes replaced every year.

Odyssey brakes wear out quick. From a former odyssey owner.

Don't turn the rotors, just replace, they are cheap enough.

Similarly, my wife's Tahoe gets 11-12 mpg when she drives it and 17-18 when I do. Wimmenz be terrible.

As said above, poor design, heavy vehicle, driver who never coasts or slows down before a stop sign

My wife is a better driver than most women, but still believes in keeping speed up right up to stop or turn, and then it's throw out the anchor.

My wife has a 2017 Odyssey with about 110k miles, and I'm about to have to replace the brakes for the 2nd time.

I replaced the front struts somewhere between 80-90k and thought it may be a bit pre-mature. But then I was riding with her on the way to one of the boy's baseball games, and she thinks 20 mph is a slow enough speed to go over those giant road humps they put up in neighborhoods to slow people down.

we had a 2012 odyssey with massive brake issues. at 100k miles they would just go out every few thousand miles. replaced master cylinder multiple times. Even honda couldn't figure it out.
