Anyone tow regularly with their expedition. I see most ratings are 6000lbs but can get equipped for 9000lbs. What's in that setup? Towing pkg plus a good weight distribution hitch?

I'd be towing around 7000lbs one weekend out of the month or more. Bumper pull stock trailer with show heifer and gear.

You need a good weight distribution hitch either way

Have a 2023 Expedition Platinum 4x4 with the Heavy Duty Tow Package rated at 9,300 towing capacity. Also have a weight distribution hitch. Have used it a couple times to pull a 16 foot livestock trailer loaded with a show steer to the Vet.

Pleasant experience?

Yea it pulled the trailer just fine. Outside the 16ft livestock trailer I've also pulled a round bail hay buggie.

I have a 6.7 Powerstroke so it does most of the heavy towing and ranch work but it's nice to have the family SUV tow something if needed

Make sure you keep that transmission fluid changed.

was hoping you'd chime in on that. Good to know. I have 97 F250 OBS that does all the rat killing around locally with a new fresh transmission rebuild. Not the best for hauling kids around or the long hauls to the major cities. Exploring the used Excursion market but never know what your buying there.

Mine's older - 1999 year model with the trailer towing package.
I've only towed overloaded U-Haul 6x12 trailers so probably half the weight you're talking about.

But, it towed like a dream from Denver to Los Angeles multiple times.
No problem with mountain passes at 11,000 feet, or towing on highways at 70 mph.

Had the tow package on two expy's (10 speed and 3.73s). First expy was a lemon but when it worked, it towed much better than my old 2010 6.2 silverado with 6 speed and 3.73s. Towed travel trailer and some random stuff too.

The new expy has been good thus far and towed a 22 JL on a dual axle trailer with stuff for a week in the mountains.

My stepfather inherited his father's 2000, but they didn't and don't now tow.

2017 is the previous body. 2018 is the newer one. If you find one, I'd definitely check to see if the CDF drum has been addressed.
