Is there really a best place? I have an Autozone, Walmart and Costco nearby. I need to replace the one in my 2018 Tundra. It's older so I guess it is time anyway.

Walmart or Costco. They are priced very similar and have similar warranties. If you need to warranty, Costco is easier. Bring in the old battery and get a new one no questions asked. Walmart will make you test the battery to prove it's bad. Not all Walmarts have a tester and the Walmart you do test it at may not have a replacement battery in stock. Walmart batteries did very well on Project Farms review.

Sounds good. I figured all would work but seems the interstate AGM batteries at Costco are cheapest. Actually cheaper than I thought and if the warranty is easier I will go that route. Thanks,

Batteries are about the last thing I still go to walmart for.

I've bought 5 batteries from Walmart in the past 6 weeks. First, I had to replace the two deep cycle batteries on my camper. Then the batteries on my F250 decided to go out since they are the original batteries with 75k miles on them. Finally, on Saturday my Wife's pickup's battery decided to crap out after 5 years.

On the other hand, finding a Costco outside of a major city may prove difficult, whereas almost every small town in Texas has a Walmart. And Walmart will usually just exchange the battery if they're unable to test it. There's also no guarantee Costco would have the battery you need in stock either. Costco's no-questions-asked exchange policy is a bit more friendly though.

Other issue with Costco is you have to keep your membership if you want to use the warranty.

I ran into this at Sam's with the Duracell batteries in my F250. Like pulling teeth to get them replaced and had to renew my membership just to go in the auto center.

I stick with Walmart or O'Reilly since Advance Auto started excluding batteries from coupons. O'Reilly seems to stock more odd sizes or can get them faster

Pretty sure Costco is prorated now on the batteries

My preference has always been duralast gold from autozone. 36 month free replacement

walmart batteries aren't that bad. Battery quality has dropped across the board so much that premium brands are not worth the premium price. There's likely to be a walmart anywhere you travel.

I go to Costco if I have time to take out the failed battery, drive it up, bring it back, and install. Much cheaper than autozone. But I've overpaid for autozone in a pinch, and the warranty is 100% in the 3-yr.

I go to Interstate. Great warranty and service.

I had a horrible warranty experience w/ Walmart and twice I've had them make me go to another Walmart for testing and like mentioned, once they tested it but didn't have a replacement in stock. I went with CostCo last time and it was cheaper & easier than Walmart.

The cheapest EverStart at Walmart for my LX is $140 while the Interstate at CostCo is $115.

Costco used to be my go to, figured out last week they are selling prorated now.

They won't give you a new battery when it fails in warranty. They give you a % of the purchase price equivalent to % of the time left in the warranty.

If you have a $120 battery w/ a 36 month warranty fail after 18 months, then you'll have to pay 1/2 the price of a new battery.

In my last WalMart incident of driving all over Houston trying to get a test for my failed battery when they finally accepted the test they then told me it was prorated. I was so plssed that I drove straight to CostCo when I should have pulled up WalMart.com and shown them that it was a replacement warranty. The whole incident was like a I was being punk'd.

Guess I will be going to Walmart then.

Wally World no longer pro-rates. It's a 2/3/4 yr free replacement. 4yr AGM is right at $200.

Sams club is still 3 years free replacement. Not pro rated

Not Costco anymore, they started prorating batteries in 2023.

Think Walmart is the place to go now. Also since there is a Walmart on every street corner it seems if it fails

Walmart deals with a lot of folks that buy a battery, use it to start a car, maybe drive one trip, and then bring the battery back looking for a refund. So they aren't quick to just give a quick a fun easy money back return.

How are the Chevy/gm batteries ? Think they use acdelco batteries?

Have a sams club one that seems to have lasted about 4 years? Not sure if that's good compared to batteries today?

Costco. All of my batteries for my vehicles 2 diesel trucks and 4 gas trucks come from there. I have yet to have one fail before their appointed warranty. One of my diesels is hard on batteries. They are Interstate batteries.

My problem with Costco is that the indirect costs really drive the price up, as in, when waiting or right after, I'm picking up $380 worth of Costco merchandise.

Bought a new battery at Walmart yesterday. Walked in with the old one, grabbed the new one and brought both to the counter. Paid for the new one and put the old one on the counter by another old one. No testing.
