Safelite auto glass experience and alternatives

Had an appointment with Safelite this morning between 8and 12 to replace my windshield. They didn't show. Called at 1230 and a rather unfriendly cs person said they left a message with the technician and I would be contacted. Never got a call. Never showed.

Not a huge inconvenience, as I had a lazy day planned. But not the first time I have had a bad experience with them. Feel like they are a pretty poorly run company.

After a prior bad experience, I got pissed and called another company. That company did not seem to be equipped to handle the sensor stuff on newer cars. Promised it was rarely an issue and if it was they had a place to take it and have it reset for 200 bucks. Of course they messed up the sensors and the place that "fixed" it was a hole in the wall dump. They got the warning light to go off, but the rain sensors hasn't worked since, which wasn't immediately noticeable. Decided I wasn't going back to their fixer. So that experience was poor as well.

Any recommendations for a good alternative to Safelite that can also handle the sensor stuff and is reputable and such in north Dallas? Dealer is out because they charge three grand, won't deal with insurance and they flat out said insurance will not pay that amount.

I would when some new cars can cost $3-4k to replace the windshield, sensors, and then do calibration of all the ADAS stuff

Got a new windshield on 21 Telluride Friday. $638 including calibration. In and out in under an hour at Safelite.

What's that do to your premiums every year?

My buddy's Tacoma got totaled due to the satellite tech bending the roof when he was installing the glass. And tried to bend it back and hide it.

I pay an extra $10 a month for full glass coverage on 8 cars. No premium increase when using

On normal cars with $200-300 windshields, I call Safelite and pay out of pocket. But on "expensive" euro cars, I'm letting the dealer handle it so they're on the hook if it leaks, ADAS doesn't work, etc.

F that damn company.

My wife had a chip that was definitely covered under free repair as part of our insurance. She had to sign a form saying that the glass can crack because of the work being performed.

What do you know? They cracked the glass more and wanted $500 to replace it. They can burn in hell

I made an appointment and took it to their shop and waited. Might be more reliable than waiting for the mobile guy.

My first poor experience was in the shop. Made an appointment for 830 or 9. Dropped it off when they opened. Around 3 that day they called and updated that it had not been started yet, but that they would get to it even if they had to stay late. I happened to have plans that evening and was not available to go get it after 5 or so. I asked why it hadn't been started at 9 when my appointment was set for. They responded that they had had a lot of walk ins. What? How are walk-ins put ahead of schedule folks? No answer. Told them not to begin work on it and went and got it when I could before our plans. That was the time I ended up going with the local guy that messed up the sensors, though he did fine on the windshield.

To be fair, the next car a year or so later, I did an appointment and took it in and they go it done on time and I had no issues.

This time I just figured I would save myself the trip to take it in and having someone pick me up and drop me back off.

From the lack of other recs, I suppose no on has a better option. Guess I will try taking it in when I have some time. Luckily the crack is not in the way of driving so doesn't bother me too much.

Where are you located? Tomball Glass does remote work but not sure what their capabilities are for calibrations might be worth the call though
