Currently drive a 2020 AT4 with the 6.2. I've had no problems with the truck, except for the sudden urge to trade it in on a 22 or 23 GX460. Not sure what has come over me as I've always been a truck guy, but damn the 460's have been growing on me lately.

If you use your truck for truck stuff, then yes, dumb. If not, then drive anything.

Yes, all the other TRUCK GUYS will laugh at you as you drive around in your air suspension, leather clad active lifestyle real estate agent mobile. They will staple truck nutz to your forehead and send you off to California to get chemically castrated.

i rented a '23 GX460 recently.

i agree it's a sharp looking vehicle. it's comfy to drive. but it definitely reminds you that you're driving a big heavy SUV and doesn't feel very refined. it has a v8 but it's thirsty as heck and feels like it needs another 50+hp.

the interior is nice, infotainment is good, although the stupid touchpad i could never grasp in a short time.

you might consider renting one on turo and see if it really delivers what you want.

edit - and the fuel tank is pretty small, you will be lucky to break 300 miles per tank unless you're doing all highway driving

So you want to go from a comfy truck to a comfy four runner?

I switched from 20+ years of truck daily driver to GX460 in 2023

16 months later, here's my take:
- it's not a truck. And it doesn't do truck things very well.
- I've only towed a small boat a short distance which was fine
- don't overlook the storage underneath the back seat of a truck, or the cab in general. I have a list of "must have" items that I keep in vehicles. Unfortunately, there's not much storage space in the GX…so I have to keep a sportsman trunk in the back…which takes up a ton of space.
- I didn't think I used my bed too much…and missed it immediately. I use a hitch mounted cargo carrier for decoys, sacks of corn, mulch etc…but even that has its downsides. During the June hurricane, I brought gas to my buddies in Houston and had to put it all in the cab.
- it's so much smoother, nicer to drive, easy to handle. Parking garages (and tight lots) are no longer an issue
- I've taken it off-roading twice (and off the road several more times) and it is highly capable.

I don't know if I'll ever get rid of it, but I could see myself adding a truck back to the fleet because the two just don't do the same thing.

Nothing beats a truck. Only get the GX as your second vehicle for the wife and keep the truck.

Except a minivan. Or a Miata.

I really want to like these, but only soccer moms and Asian businesses owners roll them.

this is where I am. I think my entire problem stems from the fact toyota and lexus are moving to the hybrid/turbo BS.....my wife currently drives a 16' 4runner which is great, but with our kids getting older/bigger we will have to get something with more room in the near future. I've just grown to love and want the 460 mainly because of the V8 and reliability/creature comforts. Sucks to see the tanks go away in favor of EPA BS. Wife really wants the 550, but I'm hoping I can talk her into a 460 or older land cruiser when the time comes to say goodbye to our current 4R.

Had this same dilemma recently. I have been wanting a Nori Green Pearl Lexus GX 460 since they came out. I had a 2023 Tundra 1794 TRD OFF Road 4x4 and hated all the issues I was having. They dont make Toyota's like they used to. I ended up finding that Nori Green Lexus and traded my truck in.

I do more driving that needing a truck bed, but I do have a trailer I could use if needed. I also have access to my son's truck since he lives close.

I absolutely love the GX 460 and don't regret it one bit. I will be in the market for a good used truck soon, because I do like to have one around the land anyway. I just could not afford a 23 Tundra and a Lexus GX 460.
