Yep, and rightly so, for a classic '90s muscle car...

GLWS of your classic truck. I'm out because I was a jerk and JP called me on it.

Nostalgia and emotion, the two things that should never drive financial decisions, are what drive these financial decisions. I am looking at a 2000 F350 7.3 Diesel with 35,000 miles right now and dude threw out the LOLPRICE of 35,000 bucks. I'll buy a 2022 for cash right now before doing that. It's just another old truck. It can sit right there for the next 12 months while he waits for the right buyer. Rest assured, the right buyer will come along. Someone had a daddy, uncle, or grand pappy that drove that truck and they just have to have it right now and they'll pay what he wants. It's a 12,000 truck, max, but for someone making emotional decisions on it, it's worth far more. Just how it is.

Plus, everyone that wanted these trucks back in the day, but couldn't afford them, are now at an age where money is not an object, so we can buy what we couldn't afford then and get that same feeling.

Now change the truck to a basic v6 5 speed no power windows or locks 1992 f150 ford with 250,000 miles with 10 year old tires, needing ac work, gas gauge and and speedometer are broken and what do you think the truck is worth ?

Well, if it's a Ford 150 it's worth 2,000 but I'll give ya fortyfivehunnert for it. That was my first truck, and I miss it. I'm not immune to emotional buying. Your point is good. I get It.

Just to add to the argument…. I mean discussion, here's something similar for the same price.

OP, have that guy list it for you on his instagram page. He gets a lot of hits with that account.

Wow that's way under market that's a good buy. That's a V8 ... I could see someone paying more like 10-12 for it and still getting a good deal

Under 100k V8s are selling for 15-20k on the facebook groups every day now

This is pretty common these days ....

Anyway I reckon I'm going to list the truck on FB since no one here is interested. But this was a fun discussion anyway! The car market has gone crazy just since 2019

I'm certain that fraudulent mileage is ripe with these trucks, swapping in a lower mileage cluster is a matter of 4x screws which are easily accessed. Rolling back the odometer itself is also possible, but is a bit more in depth.

I forget what the indicators are that the odometer has been rolled back, but someone that makes a business of it, can do it well enough that indicators would not be visible. Hell, it's not like 95% of people could even determine that an odometer has been tampered with.

However, it's all irrelevant because the trucks are all 25+ years old and need to be rebuilt due to age, not mileage.

I used to have a '94 K5 Blazer and vaguely remember a note in the owners manual that said an odometer that had been rolled back would show silver lines between the numbers.

Yeah that's a GM thing dating back to the late '70s at least

I never ended up posting this anywhere else and other things took priority. Wife is looking to move it now. We'll really take any reasonable offer just want the space in the garage for another project.
