How do you get rid of the old one?

Scrap yard. You won't get much, but it'll be gone.

Pay someone to do the replacement, then the old bed is their problem.

If you can unplug the tail lights and take off the fuel fill there are only 4 bolts to remove. Practice at home a couple of times and you can probably do it in less than 5 min with 2 people to push it off to the side at the scrapyard. Since you don't care about it the guy running the articulated loader might just run the forks though it and take it off which will save some time.

Take some portable trailer lights to get back home. I would call it a success if the trailer lights cost what you get for the bed.

Why not do something creative with it for around the house?

turn it into a vegetable garden

or a swimming pool if you are super redneck

If I put it on the curb in front of my house on Tuesday it would be gone when I woke up Wednesday, which is big trash day for me. Folks cruise all night looking for scrap metal on trash day.

If you do that, please put a camera on it so we can watch some old dude in a 2004 dodge ram attempt to lift a 300lb truck bed to put on top of the pile of metal already in his truck.

If you really want it gone, put it in the front yard with a sign reading:

FOR SALE. $500

I parted out a Honda Insight once that I did not have the title for. I bought it to cut the front end off, to fix some damage on my daily driver. I took the wheels, the suspension, and a ton of other stuff which I sold on ebay. Since I had no title, the junkyard wouldn't pick it up so I called a "junk removal" ad on craigslist. A dude showed up by himself and used a come-along to drag it up on his flatbed.

Don't underestimate a dude looking for scrap metal......

It got totaled in the hail storms recently. Found some replacements at reasonable prices, so was just going to replace.

Although, a flatbed and some truck nuts might be noice...
