So our new Palisade is a GDI engine. I'm reading about carbon build up issues and that a catch can could help prevent it becoming severe or at least delay it. Thoughts on catch cans? Worth it to install one? Am I voiding any warranty by doing that? Other than keeping up with regular maintenance any ways to prevent it?

Different make but I put one on my ecoboost and I am stunned how much crud it removes every 2 weeks or so. About an oil filter's worth of oil and condensed water that would get sucked into the intake manifold and "combusted".

I imagine it isn't too different from most other turbo of similar displacement as parts wear.

I have an optima with 130k on it. I had the intake off to change the knock sensor last weekend. The valves look absolutely terrible. This GDI business is new to me.

I use them and am amazed how much crud I drain out of them.
