Has anyone used Katzkin before to convert cloth seats to leather? Was thinking of saving some money by purchasing a truck with cloth seats and having them change them to leather.

Hoping for some reviews before I pull the trigger. TIA

I didn't install it myself, but have it in my truck. It's my understanding that install is time consuming and PITA.

However, it feels great

I converted my 2014 Tacoma to leather seats with Katzkin. Not a seat cover, but remove the cloth and replace it with leather.

I love it. Everybody that gets in the truck says yeah this is nice.

The only negative is I can say when they heated the leather to shrink in the cab, it fried my radio. They denied it, but I was like it worked before and now nothing. Anyway, I think that is rare. I replaced the radio and the new one works great and I like it more than the original.

I loaded up that little tacoma, its a regular cab 4x4. Winch, lift, electric running boards, lights, and that is just the start. One of the best things I did was go to leather.

Put Katskin in a jeep. They're great and are looking awesome 10 years later.

Around here many dealers will install as a leather option.

ETA wouldn't install myself. It took the upholstery shop a good while to get it done.

How much do you legitimately save doing this versus just buying a platinum? Honestly curious.

Well I usually buy an STX or XLT so thousands. And I really enjoy doing it more than anything else.

But my 23 is actually a hard loaded Larry, so I didn't mod it. Much….plus my time is much more occupied these days, and the rebates were far, so I figured, why not?

How much does it cost for an F-150 with install? Around $2K?

a friend has used leatherseats.com for several reso-mod projects and converting some cars from cloth to leather. They also have a heated and heated/ventilated options with their kits.

Suggest looking at their installation videos regardless of who you buy the leather from. He said it is a huge PITA the first time, but after the first one, he can get it done pretty quickly. I think he has the pneumatic or power snap ring pliers so that will make life easier as well.

I buy the kits for 500-650 and DIY it. Upholstery shop probably isn't interested in doing it if you don't buy the kit from them.

I bought an XLT sport in August. Dealer installed katzkin for $1000. They sent it to a third party to actually do the install but the dealer took care of everything.

ETA - the Katzkin is nicer than the Ford leather in my last three trucks. Quality seems great.

The quality is definitely better than OE

In 2019 I paid $991, installed.

June 2023 I paid $1199.

I considered 1ags approach but didn't want to F with it myself.

Katzkin just quoted me $1890 + tax for the standard leather + install. Seems a little higher than yalls for some reason

I had cloth seats in my mustang. Found someone who was selling the stock leather from a 2021 GT for $300 and had it installed for $350. I got really lucky - had been looking into Katzkin previously.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

While I believe Katzkin are one of the best options, I used Clazzio leather seat covers on a new commuter vehicle and they were great. Nobody could tell they were covers. I believe I paid around $500 for front and rear seats, and the DIY install wasn't that bad. I put 45K miles on that vehicle before trading in, and the Clazzio still looked new.

I installed Katzkin on my crewmax Tundra two years ago. Did one seat at a time drinking beer and watching Ozarks so wasn't too bad. Bought the kit from some guy on tundras.com for $765 + tax and a few things on ebay. Small zip ties worked better in the hard to reach areas. I don't think the quality is as great as OEM (compared to Denali or Escalade) but it was much better than the thin cloth seats on the SR5.

Still look good today. The driver seat has some wear but the other seats that don't really get used often are great. I'm hoping I can order just the driver seat in 2-3 more years when the wear gets more noticeable.

Anybody done a Katzkin upgrade on an XLT and added ventilated seat feature? How did that go? And rough cost these days?

I contacted a guy in Houston that another Texags guy used and he quoted $1300 for the seats and another $1300 for the heated/cooled system. This was for an F250, but should be the same for you.

I was outed similar about 6 months ago but the add for vented seats was only $800. I just did the regular seats and they are great.

I had Katzkin leather installed on an SUV I had several years ago and was really happy with it. Company that did the work was in NRH. I don't remember the exact cost but less than $1500. I only kept the vehicle for a couple more years after so no idea how it held up over time but it looked great when I sold it.

Be the ball Danny, be the ball.

I just had Trinity Leather in Garland do my Katzkin seats for 97 Land Crusier. $2200 for both front & 2nd row

I'm very impressed with the feel and initial quality. The alternative is L Seats in Houston. Theirs feels like pleather.
