Considering getting a lightly used Expedition. Anything to be concerned about for '20-'22 model years? Thanks

Our 2021 is getting its transmission gutted right now. Other than that we love the vehicle

How much do you add? Can you over-fill it?
If you add it, will it hurt if you take a long trip?

Burn sleeve? Does it need to be filled hot?

10R80s are all under filled from the factory for some reason.
Daily carpool and Starbucks runs never heat the fluid up to an acceptable level. Most of the expeditions I've seen with transmission failure are vehicles that are driven to drop kids off at school and soccer. Ones that are driven and filly warmed up usually eke by without issues.
Topping it off will prevent premature failure of these.

What is "full"? I pulled the dipstick tonight, which has numbers/letters, and I couldn't find a number I trusted online. 2021 Max
Also, side note, what's the difference between filter AA5Z-6714a and b? My truck takes one and expedition takes another according to parts.ford.com, but they look the same to me?

Diagnosis for our 21 is CDF hub failure requiring full rebuild. After some research this appears common and almost guaranteed. My question is what's to prevent this from happening again and why has it shifted so poorly from mile 1?
This is one of those things that's repeated here all the time, but is there any data out there to support it?Kyle Field Shade Chaser said:
Stay away from
Covid year used vehicles with low miles. They all had problems due to crappy suppliers and quality during 2020-22.
Buy a used 2023 or a pre-2019 IMO

And I guarantee it isn't "all" 2020-22 vehicles.
We have a '21 F250 and F150 that are great.1agswitchin4lanes said:htxag09 said:This is one of those things that's repeated here all the time, but is there any data out there to support it?Kyle Field Shade Chaser said:

Our '23 Expedition (loaded XLT 4x4) had a few glitches such as all the controls on the door not working intermittently and a leak from the rear window.

None? There is already one major example on here and you can easily find more from mechanics on YouTube. Supply chain issues because of Covid and keeping shareholders happy aren't a good mix when making a quality product.
