We need to sell a 2015 Pilot and got an offer from Carvana that is on the very highest range of Kelly Blue Book for private sale. That was a lot more than I was expecting without going through the trouble of selling on craigslist etc.

Was I being too conservative on what I thought I could get? I was going to list at about 67 percentile of KBB range, but would have lost at least $1k. Or is Carvana just competitive with what they offer? Has anyone gone through and do you recommend?

Edit to add: are there any other similar services to Carvana that I should look in to?

Looking for feedback in thinking through next steps. Thanks!

Don't overthink it. Take the money and run. I was historically the private seller type, but it can be such an asswhip. Sold my last 2 to Carvana. So easy. Walk in, sign title, get handed a check.

You could hit Carmax for a 2nd offer to compare. But they didn't beat Carvana on mine.

Sometimes the Carvana algo just really likes a vehicle. I would take it to carmax or a dealership to see what they offer for comparison.

A few years ago I looked at Carvana, Carmax and Vroom for an Acura RDX sale. At that time Carvana was lowest offer, then Carmax and then Vroom was highest by 15% percent over Carvana.
I have done the same with other vehicles and the order has changed depending on the vehicle

Worth getting multiple looks which only takes a few min

try all of the online ones. carvana, vroom, getmethevin, etc. take the most money if you don't feel like messing with it yourself.

You could also post what they're offering and that you'd take X amount over and sell on classifieds here

People are always looking for good used cars. No one should give you a hard time about going under the bid you've already gotten

You can get a quote on CarMax online.

Once you decide which service, Pay the extra fee and have them pick your car up at the house. I'm 15 minutes, you will have a check and your car gone.

CarMax can be a mess if you go to their dealership location.

We sold to Carmax in April with no issues. Fast, easy transaction.
