Need new tires on my daily driver ('23 Silverado 3500 single rear) & considering these two options. Any opinions either way?

Toyo weighs 62 lbs each while the BFG is nearly 70 lbs.

Tread depth on the Toyo is also 17 vs 15 on BFG

TIA!

Tire Rack

Tire Rack does testing and comparisons on varies tires in their respective categories. I found it helps me make a decision if I want to look at a different tire or decide between various ones.

Toyo Open Country AT III. I'm about 50,000 miles into mine on my F250 and they have a lot of life left.

I have BFG ko2 295/65r20. Had Nitto 35's. The 295's fit the wheel better and can balance. I get about the same mpg. I like the look of the BFG more but to each their own.

I had the KO2s on my Tundra and loved them. Have the Recon Grapplers currently on my F150 and they are really sweet as well. Surprisingly quiet for how aggressive the tread is designed.

Hard to go wrong with the big name tires these days (minus Goodyear, they suck)

Toyo will be much louder.
Put them on my wife's Expedition and they are 2x lounder than any Nitto or BFG I have owned.
Always the most goodest

Had the same experience the ATIII were as loud as my Duratracks. I hated both for the amount of road noise. I have a set of Wildpeaks on it now which were great until they started to have a wear issue which is creating tons of noise and balance issues. I love the weight of the Recon Grapplers, but not sure about the looks.

Looking good! I do like the look of these tires… the old days at DTC has me skeptical of the Nittos but I cannot ignore the feedback I have heard on their new stuff. Will definitely be looking a these in the future…

Still pretty limited on sizes for these, but in theory, this is the one you want.

Just bought a new set of KO2s today. Really wanted the HD terrain.

BFGs. No comparison. Tread wear, tread ply rating, high speed performance, road noise, etc.

I've probably posted this on every truck tire thread on here but I've got 85k+ on two sets of KO2's on my Tundra and am currently riding around on my third set. Can't speak to the performance on a larger truck but these have been worth every penny.

2" or 2.5" setting on the Ford/Bilstein setup? Any profile pics?

I had 85k on a set on a F250. Still had tread but was getting nervous on the age. Sold them to a guy on craigslist who said he would resell them in Mexico

Make sure to cross the front tires to the back, and the back straight forward. Aggressive tires need 5 to 6000 mile intervals. 10,000 is too much.

Update:

Found the Terrain HD's at Costco but there's no mileage warranty on them and they're $55 more per tire than BFG or Nitto. Ruling out Toyo now as I remember having their R/T tire and it was terrible in wet conditions.

Stuck between the KO2 and the Nitto 1ags is recommending. Is the Nitto good in wet conditions? The R/T would slide with even light acceleration on wet pavement.

Thanks!

Are the Recon Graps any better on wet roads than the Ridge Graps?

I like everything about the ridge except their wet performance.

Man, I must have gotten a bad set. The Nitto Recons were the worst riding tire I have ever put on a vehicle. They wouldnt balance, and were loud as heck. Loved the look of them, but they were going to shake my truck to pieces if I kept them on.

I've had the opposite experience, great grip, run smooth, not quiet as quite as the ko2's but more tread depth .

Been very happy with the recons

Same here. Two sets. One on bronco and one on Poweboost. It lets me brah every where I go with my white Oakleys and salt life sticker before driving through Tim Hortons on the way to soccer and baseball practice.
