I'm here in Nocona, Tx at my in-laws and noticed some car haulers loading up at Pete Hortons (oil money) car collection. His entire collection is hitting Mecum Auctions in Houston next weekend (4/13-4/15) all at no reserve. I call dibs on the 1963 Corvette Z06, haha

I think it's because the old man passed a couple years ago and the family wants to cash out.

Probably don't. Even if you are rich, keeping inventory like that is a hassle and a waste of money if you aren't 'into' it.

True, you'd think one of the kids is though. Then again a collection that size probably can't just have 1 kid that wants to keep them

There is a 2023 Corvette in there, so someone kept up with the collection.

Mr. Pete passed away earlier this year. Truly sad to see this museum close. He bought and restored a bunch of buildings downtown Nocona in to showcase the cars, including the old Ford dealer and Chevy dealership before moving them to the last place.

A guy in our area took a 55 Chevy Nomad SW and turned it into a 55 El Camino. Pretty sharp looking

To me that's best one in the group. It's the one that caught my eye also

The '69 Z28 with the Chevy 302 is quite the rarity. Would be awesome to have that one.

Dad had a small antique tractor collection. Maybe 20 restored and 5 or so waiting to be.

Every 4th of July, he would try to get as many as possible out of the barn, cleaned up, and running. It was a massive undertaking, along with putting them all back away.

Would have loved to keep them all after he passed, but we didn't have the time, money or manpower to do so. They were also in a barn that had been broken in to a few times already. And a friend's barn, two blocks away, full of antique cars, got broken into and every car vandalized.

You've really got to have a passion for them, and the time, health, and money to take care of them.

I watch a little of the auction this afternoon, the collection went for about $8.3 million total.

Looked through the list and they all of course say sold, but is there a way to see how much specific cars went for? Didn't know if I was just missing it or if they intentionally don't include the final auction price.

Came here for a 1990s 300Z TT, left disappointed
