Looking at getting the Falken Wildpeak ATW3's on my 2018 ford f150 4x4 3.5 ecoboost. No lift or level. Looking at getting either 265/70R18 (33") or 285/75R18 (close to 35").

I currently get right at 20 MPG with the stock 275/65R18 (32").

My question is, what can I expect my MPG to drop two with either of the above tires with no lift or level?

The 35" are approximately 16 lbs heavier than stock and the 33" are approximately 10 lbs heavier.

Thanks!

15-17 is my guess. About what I got on my old F150 with 33"

Thanks for the reply. That would actually be a pretty dramatic drop for just an inch larger in size. I may need to reconsider.

What happened to the 250 search?

I have a 2019 F150 2.7 boost with level what ever the highest setting is on Bilstein and have the same tires 275/60/20 and avg 15-17

Those tires are awesome (had them on my XJ), but increasing your unsprung mass is going to lower every performance metric of the truck (mileage, acceleration, braking, etc)

Still lightly searching but I figure if I can fight off the urge a bit longer that spending $800-$1000 in the short term beats spending $30,000+ in the short term (with trade in of F-150).

Aggressive stock size tires on OE wheels

Those Falkens are a good tire, but Yokohama XAT is also good. I've been on a job site past couple days that's nothing but dirt and has gotten lots of rain within past few days. I have the only 2wd truck out here and haven't gotten stuck.

I have a heavy foot. You may drive like a granny.. it's different for everyone.

It's really hard to justify killing gas miles for looks. If you're going to use it do it, if not kill that thing inside you that says you need it. But that's way easier said than done.

Edit to clarify: I'm just poking about you being a granny driver.

2022 Powerboost here. Put on Cooper ATP's about a month ago but went with 10 ply same size. Went from 19-20 mpg down to 18-19 so not a huge difference.

Which size are you referring to? 265/70R18 (33") or 285/75R18 (35")? Also do you have a lift or level? Thanks

You're good! Biologically I am a 26 year old male, but I do identify as a Granny, so good to go.

Nope. I was just trying to give mature advice based on his reaction to the mileage drop.

I got my f250 bro dozer and my 97 LC is in the shop getting 4" lift finished with 35s.

Haha all good I'm just kidding as well. That's awesome, as mentioned above, the goal is to get into an F-250 in the next year or so.

Make sure you're correcting the speedometer too in order to get true fuel economy

I kept everything stock. 275/75/18, I tow a gooseneck horse trailer around most weekends so wanted to maximize fuel economy.

I ended up ordering 275/70R18 Falken Wildpeak's. I think the slightly bigger tire and more aggressive look will get me where I want to be without killing MPG's.

This is not a stock size

I think he means that he kept the truck stock in terms of no level or lift if I'm not mistaken.

Good luck, sounds like you added about 20 lbs of unsprung weight at each corner lol

Well thanks, I guess?

Does that avg mpg include towing mixed in on the Powerboost?

I've been at 20.3 mpg after 25K on my '22 powerboost. Kinda was hoping for better. Mine is still stock FX4.

I'd get a tremor if I were to do it over again I think Only upside to the PB at this point is the 7.2 KW generator. Mpg wasn't the 23mpg I was expecting.

Agreed. I had a 2013 FX4 boosty that I upgraded from OEM's to larger Cooper AT3's and this is about what I saw. I also need a 10-ply, E rated tire to keep all the sharp rocks and mesquite thorns from creating clow leaks in the Pirelli's it came with.

Even worse with my Tundra. Got a nasty flat on the stock Michelin AT2's and replaced with a size larger Coopers again. Great tires but I lost about 2mpgs again - which means in a Tundra I'm getting 13-15mpg.
AgToadie

I tried out some 34" E-rated Coopers on my F-150 a couple years back. They looked nice and rode smooth but the added unsprung weight and tire height combined to impact acceleration and braking beyond what I wanted to tolerate.

After trying them for a month Discount gave me full credit back on my purchase and I swapped to XL rated 33s. Truck is much happier with lighter and shorter tire. Still about 1" taller tire than stock.

Just FYI in case you're not happy once you put your Falkens on.

Brah you came here with concerns about MPG and then throw a ton of additional weight at each corner. I'd say the same thing if it were a GM troka

Damn kids these days

But would you say it about a Chevy?

I'm just kidding by the way. I'll come back to report what I'm seeing MPGs wise.

Typo. 275/65/18 is the correct size.

Rule #1 with the Falken Wildpeak AT3W's. 275/70R18.
