I had slotted mags on my '63 Impala with a 327 under the hood in high school. They looked great.

They will look like somebody trying too hard on a Chevy Luv.

So far (with the help of my more mechanically-inclined brother)

• Got the A/C working with a can of A/C pro and tightening the belt - For how long?
• Molded plastic dash cap
• Steering wheel cover (Does this count?)
• Adjusted emergency brake
• Tried to make the electric fuel pump less noisy with some rubber washers (no luck)
• Taught daughter to drive a standard

New tires and wheels next week.

On the agenda…

• Get the seat re-done. Padding / springs / cover maybe
• Find a dome light

My insurance says if I total it they will cover original MSRP minus depreciation. The classic insurance companies won't cover it unless it is kept in a garage.

I think my daughter plays ball with the former owner. She's asked many times for a truck like that

My first vehicle was a '77 Chevy Luv with +200k miles on it!

• Replaced the fuel pump and the clutch master cylinder.
• Put the Chevrolet letter decals on the tailgate. They had been painted over. We'll see if they hold up.

I concur. Now that the OP has gone to the steelies and has a solid vintage vibe… I feel like deep tint would be out of character. With the aluminum wheels he bought it with - absolutely. IMHO.

I'm normally a paint them mf's type fella, but I'd go with a very light ceramic for the sake of comfort. 50% at the absolute darkest

Since Baitshack has put the steelies on and redone the Chevy label, I assume he's going for a period correct look.

If that's the case, and he tints it, then make sure the tint gets REAL bubbly like every 70's and 80's tint job. That would be period correct, but hideous.

If keeping those rims he bought it with, then lowering, deep tinting, and a few thousand bucks in stereo work would be the way to go. With some fuzzy dice.

I feel similarly about other updates. When I had my 69 C10 is did deep tint and LED lamps all around. Even though our 68 is LS swapped and on air, we kept the steelies, poverty caps, and patina - so outwardly it's a pasture find. Hence, I used regular ol' 1157 dual element bulbs that burn out on the regular instead of LEDs because they keep the vibe going.

A little more work to do I see, but you'll get there eventually

I've seen that one around. It's really purty.

The scout owner had a book showing the restoration. It started as something that looked at home on a deer lease, pretty rough to say the least. I'll get some pics next time.

Took the Luv to 1st Friday in downtown Bryan. Lots of people asking questions etc. it was fun.
