I am in The Woodlands. I have a 2011 M37 which has about 120k miles. I noticed yesterday that it dripped oil in my garage in about 5-7 spots maybe 18 inches in diameter from widest spots. Then today it dripped again, similar pattern and then I got to work and noticed smoke coming from the front of the car. Opened the hood and couldn't figure out what was causing the smoke, but it smelled like something had been burning.

I have always had bad experiences at dealerships so would like to find a trustworthy mechanic to take it to. Any recommendations in The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe area?

Could be as simple as valve cover gasket, which any competent shop can handle easily. Oil can drip on the exhaust manifold and make the burning odor.

Also - the 3.5 and 3.7 VQ engines are common across nissan maxima and z-cars so you shouldn't need a specialized shop to diagnose it.

Anyone have good/bad experiences to share on Christian Brothers?

I'm in The Woodlands and we take all of our cars to Codes in Conroe. He will take a little more time to turn your car around, but he's one helluva a mechanic and will fix your car correctly the first time. Further, he charges a very fair price for quality work. Could not recommend him more strongly. He can fix any make or model.

Well damn, on my way to the shop I lost engine power on the interstate so I pulled over and now I guess I'll be towing it.

Any update? I drive a 2012 G37 so I'm interested to see what the issue is.

So evidently it was a coolant leak. After they told me that I went and touched my finger on the oil drops in my garage and it was blue on my finger not brown/black like it looked on my epoxy garage floors. Luckily I didn't drive very far once I lost engine power as I suspect my engine was overheating causing some sort of safety mode to kick in.

My G had a plastic heater fitting break last month. Luckily I noticed my temp gauge climbing before I got on the freeway and shut it off before overheating.

otherwise known as Anus Brothers because that's where they will stick it

Go to Christian Brothers, bend over and prepare to take it without any lube. This is the last place I would take my vehicle.
