My Aggie daughter who now lives in Houston (we are in college station) had a warning light pop on so she took it to a mechanic and told her that she needs her brake pads replaced, which may very well be because it's a 2018 Highlander but I'm not sure if she's ever had the brake pads removed, but also that she needs all kinds of hoses replaced, etc. of course, I don't believe any of those things will warrant the warning light popping on. It may only be a reminder like to get service as far as I know.
She's sending me the information, but I just don't know who in Houston would be a good second opinion. It may very well be the case that these things need to be addressed, but it just seems unusual based on the age of the vehicle, in my opinion. I would love to have a place that she could go that was recommended by someone on this board, that she could get another opinion. She lives over by beltway eight, just north of I 10 on the west side.

We have had some work done at Rusty's auto repair. Seems like a fair guy when I've been in the shop and heard him interacting with other customers getting work done.

Adam's Automotive, I-10/Blalock. Tell them Ronnie recommended them.

Clutch is another, on Dairy Ashford just a little north of Briar Forest. I've used them more lately as they are a bit closer than Adam's. Adam's is opened 7 days.

I just went to Todd based on this post. I can't say enough good things. Specializes in Toyotas. He's on Cypress area. I really like him and trust him to help your daughter. I'm not going to go anywhere else.

In Houston, I would hiiiiighly recommend Todd at Todd's Auto Care: https://www.facebook.com/ToddsAutoCare

Todd spent many years as a Lexus/Toyota tech and regional "fix it" guy, the one the dealers call when they're out of ideas on how to solve something. And he is good people!

I live nearby.
I like Tully Auto and Sammy's
Both memorial dr close to dairy Ashford.

Several of the places on DA are good.
And Neighbor swears by Scott's close to Kirkwood.

There are kind of a crazy amount of auto shops nearby….

I used G&S Automotive on Gessner north of I-10 for some work on an older Equinox based on this board's recommendation. They did good work and didn't push for upsell replacement outside of fixing the issue it was there for.

Take it to Payne's Automotive on Bingle. Jason runs the shop and is an Ag.

As previously mentioned, I would definitely recommend giving Todd at Todd's Auto Care a call. I really don't see how you could find a better person to work with on a Toyota/Lexus product.

Any experiences from the above(or others) for a transmission diagnostic/repair? The kid's 2014 GMC Terrain transmission is acting up.

You have a shop? Got an issue (2014 GMC Terrain SLE, 2.4L 4-cyl) that just popped up yesterday and needs to be taken care of in the next couple of days. Service StabiliTrak and ABS light currently on. (I'm told they've gone off/on a couple of times.). I believe/hope it's just a bad ABS wheel speed sensor. I say believe cuz the car is in Houston with the kid and I'm in DFW so haven't seen it. Just going off their description and answers to a couple of questions.

OK. I didn't think I'd miss something like that but just checking.

It's most likely a wheel speed sensor or a bad hub assembly.

Yes that's pretty much what I figured. They are driving back to Houston from CStat right now and the warning lights are off. Except for about 10 seconds this morning the lights stayed off while driving around CStat today. I'm thinking it's in the front as it seems to be affected more so when turning.

I'm driving down from Dallas in the AM.

Appreciate your time and expertise as always!

Ended up taking the Terrain to G&S today. Great experience and saved us $ in the process. Definitely recommend.

My guess of the issue being on the front was wrong. Scan showed passenger side rear.
