Purchased a 2021 High Level Trim F150 Tremor.

One of 2 things has apparently happened, Ford forgot to tell everyone about the high level trim and all KBB and everyone has is a quote for the mid level or it just has the worst resale value ever.

Sticker was 72k, resale is already in the mid 40s with less than 25k miles.

I had an XLT of the last gen that I sold to someone here for like 7k less than I paid for it 3 years earlier.

Freakin BlueCruise and resales for the same as a mid level.

Where are you getting your "40s" number?

Easy Solution: Don't sell it

Somewhere there is a disconnect between trade-in offers and resale.

Just a few examples of trade in vs resale

Complete idiocracy. Is that even a real thing or did someone find every specialty badge Ford does and slap it on there?

buying a Ford and complaining about resale value is like buying a Tundra and complaining about bad gas mileage.

If it's such a great vehicle that you don't believe should be the subject of significant depreciation, why do you want to get rid of it when it's got such low mileage? Your previous vehicle was 3 years old when you got rid of it. If you switch vehicles so often then why not just lease them?

Must've been hoping for that Covid re-sale value.

In my opinion and from what I have seen, there are many things happening with used cars and maybe your situation….

I think the trade prices you're seeing is low, but see my ramblings below….

1. Used car dealers like Carmax, Echo Park, Drivetime, carvana etc are hurting since they're stuck with things they overpaid on, so they're not really interested in buying unless they're gonna Rob it from you. Never mind they had record profits in 2021, overcharging consumers by thousands, who are also over leveraged. Imagine paying $5000 over FMV on an ex rental Dodge Journey at 7% with no warranty and the transmission fails, and you're upside down on it. Ball till you fall.

2. Many would be buyers are balking at the 5-6-7-8 percent interest that loans for vehicles are now hitting. Cheap money is gone for a bit.

3. The algorithm may not be set up for the correct tremor trim. I believe that early tremor F150s were offered in 3 trims, a base type XLT setup with cloth , and two more luxurious trims, which KBB et al may not have been updated yet.

4. Manufacturers are able to improve inventory and get vehicles out the door now. Lots are starting to fill with new inventory. Seems like the main lines that are high profile and struggling for inventory are super duty, GM Hd trucks, and GM full sized SUVs. Your tremor is likely still pretty desirable and it seems that shoppers that are well heeled and buying King ranch and up trims don't care about discounts/interest rates. The rest of us working class lolpoors are expecting and getting discounts on pleb trim XLT and Lariats.

5. You need to make sure you throw in the tow knob when you advertise it and offer a 300 dollar travel credit for rental car costs.

Ahhhh agree to disagree. Before Covid, resale on a freaking 5+ year old F150 or even Super Duty was just plain stupid. Tundra has better, I agree. However, let's not sit here and say an F150 depreciates like a 1999 Kia Rio.

I have a '22 FX4 Powerboost, which I bought for the big generator. Once football tailgating was over I have no need for the generator & I just love the look / stance of the Tremor.

huh? you gonna buy another powerboost again next football season then?

Nah. Besides the generator I got it for the mpg's. But I can't get anywhere near the mpg's on Texas interstates. Might as well be driving an ecoboost or coyote. They'll get the same on the interstate.

Powerboost mpg's are only a benefit in stop & go rush hour traffic in the city, which I avoid at all costs. Nobody drives 65mph on the interstate. 75-83mph on the interstate gets you about 18.1 mpg in the powerboost.

so... you bought it for football season plus good mpgs in driving conditions that you don't follow. makes sense.

do you have a sister who went to brown University by chance?

well...the sticker says 23/23 mpg. So I figured how I drive I could at least get 21mpg on the interstates, but no bueno. 21mpg vs 18mpg would have been a nice bump up.

But hey the generator works fantastic!

Maybe get a hybrid Maverick and a solar generator by BLUETTI for the mpg and tailgating
