Anyone with experience with one of these new USB-C jumpstart batteries like NOCO?

My wife wants to get them as stocking stuffers. I'm not going to link to any, but one well known brand is NOCO.

You recharge these things through a USB-C, and they supposedly provide enough amps to crank a 7.0L gas engine (or more).

Just wondering if anyone has bought / used one. If they work as intended, as a safety backup, it seems like a no-brainer. You could keep the charge up on them by keeping them plugged into the USB port in your dash / console / glove-box etc, and then jump off the battery if you accidently leave your lights on, for example.

Would love to hear any positive or negative stories.

I've got one. Never had to use it in the Defender but It worked fine jump starting the wife's car and a friend's truck.

I have one, I've used it twice in the past month. Once was to jump the vehicle of an elderly couple that doesn't get driven often. Then, my neighbor needed a jump. Each time used about 4% of the charge.

It's much better than the first one I had 20 years ago. That one would lose its charge in less than 3 months. This one will lose a few percent per year, so you don't have to remember to charge it frequently.

Other things that I like, it is much smaller than a good set of jumper cables and I do not need to connect my truck to someone else's vehicle.

I no longer see the brand that I bought on Amazon. However, this one looks shockingly similar: https://www.amazon.com/NEXPOW-18000mAh-Starter-Portable-Battery/dp/B087LRFYDB/ref=sr_1_9?crid=TPNI786VZEL5&keywords=battery+starter+car+jumper&qid=1670757070&sprefix=battery+starter%2Caps%2C218&sr=8-9&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.006c50ae-5d4c-4777-9bc0-4513d670b6bc

I have a NOCO in my truck and at my restaurant. Haven't used the one in my truck, but we use the one at the restaurant about 6 times per year. Super easy to hook up and use and has worked every time. I recharge the one in my truck every three months, just to be sure it is ready.

I have a few of them. They work, but if the battery is severely depleted the car still won't start. Had it happen quite a few times - most recently with my Bronco and an Acadia. Acadia needed jumper cables and ~5 mins to charge with them on. Bronco had to get dragged to the house and put on a battery charger set to 200a to get it started.

For just a low battery, they're still worth the price and super convenient.

I carry the noco GB40 in my truck and have used it 7-8 times on other people's cars with success. Only had one it couldn't start, a full-size van that hadn't run in several years, so I'll give it a pass there. Plus, no risk to your truck when you help a stranger.

So I'm happy with it and they're on sale pretty often. I agree that they'd make a good stocking stuffer.

I have the one that Trek or whomever was pushing. It worked perfectly fine on my 02 Chevy 8.1.

We have used ours several times - including helping strangers. Wife has used it on her own and found very easy. Now we have one in every car.

I have the GB40 and it does well for everything except my 6.0 w/ 11:1 CR. It only works for it if the battery is barely dead.

I use my Noco Genius 10 battery charger more often.

Use this one to jump a farm combine as well as diesel F250's. Great product for the price.

I have one, I think it's a HOOLOO brand off Amazon. My Ram 1500 had a low battery, too low to get it to turn over. Box cranked it right up. I had to make a stop between home and getting a battery and I accidentally turned the truck off, and the jump box got me going again no problem. Have used it countless times on the lawn mower to get it going. It'll also charge a phone/electronics, which came in handy during the freeze. It's really a nice little tool.

I bought an Audew brand one. Started 6.7 PS no problem. I used it maybe three times and one day it just wouldn't take a charge.

So excellent while they work. Way more convenient than the big heavy old school packs.

Have them in family truck land expedition, as well as work trucks.

We have an Amazon one that can jump our f250 diesel.

I've had two Audew units for 2.5 years and have had great luck with them. I only charge them every 4-5 months and they're still at mostly full charge. I've only started cars and V6 SUVs with them but they've been flawless. Much, much better than the big battery packs we used before that lost charge every couple months.

My NOCO is pure trash.

Well, it holds a charge well, only the power button doesn't work. I can charge it up, but I can't actually turn it on so that I can use the power it is storing.

I have a NOCO: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08WZKRHZZ/

It is fantastic. Starts cars and trucks easily, can run the winch on my trailer, too.

We have Halos in both vehicles. They have come in handy. They seem to hold a charge well and we check them every 3 months or so.

We use the antigravity XP versions. Little pricier but they do better with Texas heat. The cheaper one I had before degraded after a Texas summer and it's a glorified phone charger now.

Damn
I'm not sure if people genuinely believe someone is going to say, "Wow, if some people say I'm a moron for not believing this, it clearly must be true."

It's not much a persuasive argument. It really just sounds like a bunch of miniature dachshunds barking because the first one one barked when it thought it heard something.

My wife has used hers to jump her Sequoia more than once on the same charge back when her battery and alternator were starting to go out. Also, she used it to jump an old corvette of ours several times after it had been sitting too long.

Yeah, I love that thing. I have used it many times. It may not seem like that great a gadget until you use it. And the first time you use it you'll wonder how you got along without it.

Great item to have. I have a Hulkman and Yaber that are both a year or two old and still hold a change for months in Texas heat. Much easier than pulling out cables.

I lived in an apartment complex for just over a year and used the Hulkman numerous times wihout an issue. Always someone with a dead battery.

The GooLoo has been the best. The Interstate is garbage IMO. It hasn't started any cars I've tried it on. Even got it replaced under warranty and that one also sucked. The GooLoo has only let me down once.

I have one in all my families cars.

My son is a senior in high schools and one day he was starting a friends car with it in the parking lot. The principal came over and looked at what was going on. I'm the next few weeks he called my son out of class three times to start cars.

It took the school district procurement a month to get it delivered.
