I recently got a Bakflip MX4 on my F-150. Has anyone had any issues taking a cover through an automated car wash? I usually hand wash my truck but just don't have the time this week.

I don't but then again I have a diamondback.

Just put a MX4 on my truck this week. I'd be interested in an answer to this as well. Google search indicates it shouldn't be an issue, but I'd like to hear from someone on this forum who has one.

Issues as in you think the rough outer texture of the mx4 is going to get scratched driving through a carwash behind grandmas Lexus?

Or issues as in the mx4 that is made to be parked outside in the elements would get wet?

Eta: I have one. Can confirm the car wash washes it, gets it wet, and then it dries. The problem lies in that the car wash can't clean the bed of the pickup under the cover.

I found conflicting answers on Google. Some said it was fine, others say the abrasiveness of the brushes and such could damage it. I just wanted to get input from the forum before I give it a go.

Lol jeez dude. No I'm not concerned about the cover that's supposed to be out in the elements getting wet. I'm very sorry if we were not clear enough in the question.

More concerned about potential damage (scratching, denting, shifting the bed cover) from the brushes. Thanks for your help though.

I have an MX4 and drive through the car wash at least once a week with zero issues.

I've had MX4 on my F150 for years and have never had any issues. I usually leave my golf clubs back there because water never gets in.

Been through tunnel wash with mine many times over the last 4 years with no issues. Be more worried about folding it up with debris in between the fold layers. That will dent the surface.

I go through a car wash weekly, it seems fine. Water gets in around the tailgate (multi pro), but that's not the cover's fault

I feel like if any of this were true it'd be true for the paint/body of your car/truck as well…..

Got the MX4 on my 2016 F150. Installed the third week after I bought the truck new.

Goes through the car wash 4-5 times a month. Still keeps the bed dry 6+ years later - you do get a little water in around the tailgate.

One thing to consider - You need to check the alignment/fit once a year. The clamps holding things down can slip/vibrate loose. Check the clamps and tighten it up.

No issues since 2018.

And Strongwind86 is correct, check the clamps at least once a year. Mine shifts slightly every now and then and it's not as water tight as it should be (but it's still keeps everything pretty dry even in the heaviest downpours).

My dad has one on his garage kept 2016 and it's pristine and water tight.

MX4 on the AT4 and like the other poster no issues in the car wash.
I'm not sure if people genuinely believe someone is going to say, "Wow, if some people say I'm a moron for not believing this, it clearly must be true."

It's not much a persuasive argument. It really just sounds like a bunch of miniature dachshunds barking because the first one one barked when it thought it heard something.
