Competing for EV chargers

There is a charger in a parking lot I pass frequently. Usually a Tesla Model S is charging there. This week a Fusion has been arriving early and taking the charger.

I've seen the Tesla next to another EV in the past where the other EV charger door was still open. It appeared the Tesla driver felt he could just unplug the other car and start charging his/hers.

The Fusion driver offers a solution this morning. I had to stop and read the note.

Maybe this is a problem in other places as well?

Funny that the Model S was $100k and yet the driver feels entitled to charge for free at work.

*****bags drive EVs and ICEs alike.

Most places post signage to move your vehicle after charging but since they are typically good parking spots, you know how that goes.

Whole Foods has chargers in HC spots and I've seen non HC cars get tickets. Makes me feel good.

Ever seen ICE drivers take the fuel spout out of someone else's tank fill spout and put it into their car while at a gas station?

Doesn't happen at the gas station, just in any parking lot when they siphon the fuel or just drill a damn hole in the tank.

Filling up at a gas pump doesn't take hours either.

I bet this is gonna be more common with so many folks ordering EVs if they don't add to the charging infrastructure. At least for non-Teslas.

Folks that leave their car in the charging spots are jerks, reminds me of the laundromat *******s that leave clothes in the dryer for hours. The app tells you when it's done charging in my limited experience on rentals.

There is a decent amount of discussion about EV's on this forum. I figured y'all would be interested.

Hope nobody unplugged your Fusion early.

I've never seen (or been there long enough) a DB ICE driver park at a pump while they go work ~8 hours.

I have seen, many times, a DB ICE driver fill up at the pump and then leave there vehicle there and go inside while others are waiting for pumps.

No, but I have seen ICE drivers siphon gas from vehicles. Does that count?

Additionally, just as bad is taking up a refueling spot just to park your vehicle. This happens all the time at Buc-ees with people leaving their car at the pump while they spend 30 minutes roaming around inside.

I was an asset manager of some large, nice commercial office buildings in CA from 2013 to 2021 or so. We added EV charging stations and over time, with increased demand, one of the issues our property managers ran into was fights between tenants about charging rights. They got pretty heated (pun intended) sometimes. There are some things that the landlord and driver can both do on their ends to help, but yeah, I've seen some nasty stuff go down between grown adults about charging their vehicles. The best, easiest, and most fair, IMO, is to just charge for the ability to charge. That kind of stops the "yeah yeah" before it starts.

Yeah, well I've seen people argue at gas pumps before going into the store for 30 minutes to shop. [/tesla owners who really really really want you to like their cars and quirky vanity plates]

I know you're being facetious but my wife and I stopped at buccees on the way to the Miami game and every pump was taken, but about 60% didn't even have the pump in the car..... so yeah, people are ass holes, not just Tesla drivers.

Don't get me started on people in cars taking up outside diesel pumps when others are open.

Drove by this same charging station this morning.

The Fusion usually arrives first. The Tesla had arrived and pulled the charging cord out of the Fusion to charge the Tesla. Charging port door was still open on the Fusion.

Somebody is entitled.

You beat me to it with your post...

Recently went to my usual and closest station that has 5 islands/10 pumps total. Only two pumps are diesel. On one pump a guy was filling up a huge tank, the other, a little SUV sitting there empty. Had to wait about 8 minutes (which is eternity when you are getting more pissed with each passing minute) until a fat tart with pink hair came out with a four course meal clutched to her chest. She didn't have the slightest clue...I just didn't feel like confronting her that day.
