How long do you want to ignore this user?
New truck is supposed to be here before too long and am looking for some advice on a new bed cover. I currently have a Bak Flip Revolver X4 (maybe X2) on my truck now and it is okay but already starting to tear on edge after only 2 years.

Oh, and ordered last two covers from Luke at Truck Alteration and plan to do the same again.

Looking for:

  • Something that is durable and going to last a long time
  • Prefer a rigid and steel/reinforced top (do not want a soft cover)
  • Weatherproofing is a big deal
  • Open to the folding options but don't love the idea of having to block the back window when hauling a bunch of stuff in the bed - Am I crazy?
  • Do not want anything that is going to reduce the bed space (rolling covers that retract into a box)

Going on a 22 F150 with power tailgate, if that helps. And I haul people around a lot for work and need to covered bed space for luggage/gear, not for my oversized man purse. I also actually haul a bunch of stuff around during hunting season so need to utilize the bed space.

TIA!

I just got the Bakflip MX4 for my Power Wagon and am happy with it.

Blocking the back window when carrying a load is not a big deal. If you are carrying such a tall load that it won't fit under, then the load itself will likely be blocking your view. You also have the option of putting the tall stuff by the tailgate and only folding the cover back part of the way. And, pretty much every truck has a camera now.
The rolling ones are cool though.

I have a BakFlip, not sure what model, but I got it used and it's my second as the first kept having to have to underside rails reattached. Stuff wears out over 240K miles.

I like the DiamondBacks too.

I have a Lomax on my 2500 HD. I really like it. As far as folding it up, and blocking the rear window, I just take it out. Really easy. And if it's a trip where one way I need it gone, like moving a mattress, I just pack it on the the side, and reinstall at my destination.

I got the Lomax Stance and a Bed Rug liner from Truck Alterations and have been happy with both. I like the Stance because I can fold it all the way up to access items in the very front of the bed. The only thing I don't like about it are the brackets that mount on the cab if you want to drive with it fully vertical. I didn't install them and will just take the cover off if I ever need more than two thirds of the bed so it's a non-issue for me.

I'm looking hard at Diamond back for a replacement cover for my 2013 F150 and this thread isn't helping me resist…

If it doesn't have to be perfect, Diamondback has a good outlet section with reduced prices.

I would've gotten one but I'm not a huge fan of how it sits higher than the top of the bed and I found a good deal on a used BakFlip.

I bought a Truxedo Sentry CT a little over a year ago and have been very pleased with it. Has a low profile and is reinforced with metal underneath the canvas. Was really easy to install as well.

Thanks, y'all! I heard the Lomax was good and will look into those a little more with Luke.

The diamondbacks look great but just not real practical for me.

Another vote for Diamondback HD's. Loved the one on our 2015 Power Wagon while we had it. 7 years and still going strong.

My wife has an expedition and last I checked, I can't haul a ton of feed in the back of an expedition… or pull a trailer over 6,500lbs

Luke said they've seen better quality/reliability out of the Lomax than the mx4. But I liked the way the mx4 folds and sits against the window a lot more than the Lomax so went that route
