I think I know the answer to the question, but…..

Will mister car washes damage your paint? Never been a fan of the drive through car washes for this reason but it's crazy to me how many people love this place. And these are people ranging from driving 15 year old cars to a brand new Mercedes.

Would be awesome if it not and it was a legit place you could quickly get your car washed and for like $10. Especially seeing how I just got the dark blue F150. I absolutely love it but does get dirty quick. But just seems too good to be true.

If you hate you paint and the glossy b panel, then yes, drive thru.

Those folks don't care about swirls. That's all I can think.

Unless you are a perfectionist I think they are fine.
I've been driving a new suv through it at least once a week for a year and haven't noticed a thing.

The alternative is a hand wash which I know I won't do more than once a quarter due to convenience .

I have used car washes for years from BMWs to Tesla. A car should be used and not treated like some fine china. I am sure the car washes causes some paint issues but can't be worse than the rock chips all over the front.

Our family eats all the time inside the car and make a mess but a good clean prob looks about as good if food/water never sees the inside of the car.

If you drive when it rains, you'll be OK.

I took my black Tahoe through Mr Car Wash about 40 times a year for 7+ years. Eventually, the swirls/surface scratches got to me. I went the wrap route, but later learned and regretted not having a 2 stage paint correction done.

If you plan on keeping the truck for 7+ years, maybe just plan on doing a paint correction process sometime 3, 4 or 5 years down the road.

Something like this gives you an idea:

Luxury car dealers run their loaners through washes daily. I figure if the dealer will do it with their own cars 300 times a year, these washes should be fine for most people to use once or twice a week.

Now, if I had a 911, I'd probably just go the hand wash route and enjoy every minute of rubbing that sexy body down.

It's a speed vs quality trade-off like anything else. I don't like the machine washes because they miss too much grime. Run your car through the machines and then do a hand wash at home & I guarantee your wash bucket will still be brown when you are done. The machines just aren't thorough.

The glossy pillars are the Ford will look like you took a grill brush and went to town.

Paint is generally ok for a while, but there are parts - specifically the piano black gloss parts - that will swirl and dull immediately.
