We are needing to replace my wife's windshield on her '22 Toyota Sienna. They dealership quoted us at $1400 which seems excessive. They said they needed to calibrate a certain camera? Is this true & I need to get it done at the dealership or is it BS & I can any windshield replacement guy to do it (for way cheaper)?

Any of the third party guys can do calibrations. Make sure you don't have free windshield replacement on your auto insurance. I didn't even know I had it and it saved me over a grand.

Used 1ags rec a few weeks ago and it was great. Our car did not need the recalibration as all the sensors are on the front end of the car, not the windshield. Apple Glass said we could come in and recalibrate at a later date if needed since mobile installation cannot do it. Our experience was top notch.

Just had the windshield replaced in my wife's Lincoln Nautilus.

Used Safelite in Houston. Took it to their shop and left the vehicle there to install the new windshield. Safelite used the exact same factory glass (Carlite) with the Soundscreen laminate. Safelite was able to recalibrate all the cameras, etc on her Lincoln.

Just an FYI - I always take my vehicles to the shop for replacement. The only issues I've had on new windshield installs has been on ones done by a "mobile" installer. It's worth the 4 hours +/- to have it done in the shop IMO.

I had to replace mine on my '20 Expedition. Got a quote very similar to yours. My dad referenced me to a guy he's used multiple times.

Speaking with the gentleman, I asked about recalibrating the adaptive cruise control/lane keeping assist systems, and he said that if you replace the window without disconnecting a specific part, recalibration isn't necessary. He replaced my windshield about 7 months ago, no recalibration, and I have no noticeable difference in my adaptive cruise control/lane keeping assist systems. My total cost for replacement was a little over $450.

Angler Windshield Repair in Montgomery, TX. 936-232-6734. He came out to my house in Millican and replaced the windshield. I will say that he mentioned he doesn't usually come out that far, but since my dad has given him so much business, he was willing to.
