I know what they're trying to say, but they did a piss poor job of saying it

My SIL is one of those people. Went in for an oil change in a vehicle that was almost paid off, a salesman gets to talking with her, then she leaves in a new car with a 5 year loan on it. She justified it by saying "It's only an extra $20 a month." Did the exact same thing 2 years later.

Cousin did that on his wife's (at the time) Mustang. Went in to get new tires (at the Stealership???) and left with a new Mustang. Her "old" Mustang was three years old.

Three years later she wanted another Mustang upgrade and got it.

When they divorced she took that car and a crap ton of his 401(k).

That headline is a little misleading. A third party driver was at fault, so, yes, they're responsible. Can't say I disagree with the dealer. But I do feel like they should step up and handle the process instead of wiping their hands clean.

Problem is the 3rd party's insurance found Tomball 30% at fault, yet Tomball has washed its hands of it. So not quite so cut and dry. And having witnessed how some of these dealers and mechanics handle these cars (just today had a Firestone mechanic dangerously whip in front of me to park a customer's car), the 3rd party insco's finding is at least plausible to me
