Neither did I but I bought what I wanted and paid for it with no one elses help ...... except maybe a friendly banker. Maybe today's younger generations have been raised to expect mom and dad to pay for their new car on the day they turn 16 and get their DL. Fortunately I wasn't and didn't

That car is worth $2000 non running on its best day, more likely $1000-1500. Sorry the current owner is crazy.

Asking $6500 for a rusty 83 Datsun that hasn't run in 15 years. Wow.

Not all of us had a First National Bank of Mom and Dad credit card to get whatever we wanted for our first car.
The way I ended up with a 67 Galaxie is because it was only 400 bucks. A retired Teacher's car that only had 60k miles on it in 1989. It literally had nothing wrong with it except faded paint.

I had a very limited budget. I did work and had much more money than I paid for my car, but I was saving that money for school. I paid for 100% of my car, insurance, and A&M. In high school, I helped my parents with their mortgage.

Fortunately, finances turned around for my parents while I was at A&M and remained good for the rest of their lives, but high school was a very, very lean time.

I also got to pay for all of my diabetic supplies from high school on. Fortunately, insulin was cheap in those days, and a box of syringes lasted over a month.

I recently passed a car on I-20 here in Texas that I'm 95% sure was the one I traded in in Jackson, Mississippi a few years back. The only Titanium Ecoboost Flex from that generation that I've seen in that color scheme. It was wearing Mississippi plates as well. What are the chances?

89 chevy short wide. My wife asked me not to sell it, but I didn't listen.

I still look for it on craigslist, but I bet that it is in Mexico.

Thanks for sharing that EMY92 - since you drove an Audi and lived in the expensive suburb, I always assumed you were rich.
I guess HS kids don't know everything but they sure are judgemental based on appearances.

69 Camaro. Mine's probably long gone. Probably couldn't afford restore one right, but I'd be really tempted.

Brand new 1994 F-150 Single Cab XL, 2 wheel drive, black with gray two tone, inline 6. Nothing fancy or exceptional about the truck.

After close to twenty vehicles later though, still my favorite to this day and would love to have it back.

Not really. It was a consumer reports scandal. If they sold the current jimney (what the samurai was called everywhere else) in the states I'd consider buying one. (Can only get them south of the border now). Doug Demuro did a pretty good review on the new version a few months ago.

Not really. The test was skewed due to some personal politics.

Of course any short wheelbase off roader can be rolled at highway speeds, but the Sammy was never about highway speeds in the first place.

I see a real nice one all the time at 6 and 105. It's got a flatbed! Got to be a rancher because he just drives a few miles up and down 105 going to different pastures.

I got my first car ('66 Chevy II) over 36 years ago and still have it, so you'd think I'd be an automatic "yes" on buying back your first car. But keeping and maintaining an old car (much less restoring one from the state of that Z) can quickly override any sentimental attachment. I like tinkering on cars, and have some good memories of working with my dad on this one - but keeping an old car can be a burden in a lot of ways.

So the greatest civilization is one where all citizens are equally armed and can only be persuaded, never forced. It removes force from the equation... and that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act.

Oh my gosh, we have a winner

Beautiful car. Dream car of mine

Edit to add: I fell in love with the shoe box Novas after I saw this picture of Mark Steilows beautiful 64 Malibu in this nostalgic old car in the shop out back pick.

You live in the north SA/hill country area ? Was that pic taken at the Bulverde car show at the church on Bulverde road? I've seen that car or it's twin down at the Shell station at 281 N and the Guadalupe River bridge on several occasions back before covid when we all met there on the first Sat of the month.

I'm in Austin and this pic is from Cars and Coffee several years ago, not long after they moved it out to the Oasis. I'm pretty sure I know which car you're talking about, but it's not mine. I saw my car's twin at a local car show a few years ago and talked to the owner. As I recall he was either from San Antonio or had family there. I also seem to recall he had a fairly high HP engine and the stock front suspension - which means he either had big cojones, a small brain, or both.

I asked my 84 year old dad this question.

His response was "48 Chevy and hell yes. I'd put it in my living room and just stare at it and remember all the fun times that happened in that car".

I swear I need to send that old man to The Villages.

1977 Chevy Luv… Put more miles driving on the shoulder letting faster vehicles by that in the driving lane. The only vehicle slower than me was the Ford Courier….I gave it to my sister when I left for the Air Force…she eventually traded it in with 246,000 miles on it..They gave her $75.00 for it!

1990 Chevy Silverado 1500 single cab step side. Drove that truck until someone a-hole rear ended me on the 5 in San Diego and totaled it while I was in the Marines.

Would love to have another one some day. So many great memories in that truck.

This was pretty much my first car. Unfortunately it was stolen and insurance didn't pay **** for it. So all I could find to replace it with was a regular cab Taco and that car sucked. Aftermarket keyless entry that seemed to fail every other month, small, and cramped. Still kept it to finish high school then through college. My first year after college the engine started knocking and needed to be replaced.

That is a sweet Tacoma in that photo. Marty McFly would even approve.

The keyless entry you mention was probably one of those systems that Gulf Coast Toyota dealers all had installed. Terrible.
