Crazy morning, would you buy back your first car?

It's been a wild morning, Facebook marketplace suggested an '83 ZX for sale in Houston, which I wasn't looking for (I've been searching for Jeep J10s for 6 months) and after going through the photos I was 95% sure it was my first car. I owned it for 16 years. The seller confirmed it was mine just a bit ago.

It's a mess, expensive, but how often do you get this kind of chance? If it was a 240/260/280 Z I wouldn't hesitate, but then again I probably couldn't afford it.

I can get her right, and can now afford to do some of the stuff I always wanted to do (turbo), but I am currently also renovating a 130 year old house with no garage. I don't know what I'm going to do but I just had to share this unbelievable twist of fate.

What a crazy, crazy, morning.

If I could find my 1985 CJ-7 that I stuffed a SM465/Np205 and D44 rear into along with a Chevy 350 I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Yes! I tried hunting for my old '97 F150 a few years ago. I explained the situation to my insurance agent and he actually helped me look for it for a few weeks. Unfortunately it had been exported to Mexico and there weren't any additional records from 2008 onwards.

If I had a chance, I would buy it back in a heartbeat.

An 82 Chevy Chevette? Na man. I'll pass.

My second car though I did buy it a few years back. Waiting on "someday" when I can go through it properly and cruise it in my old age.

(not my car, but hopefully will look like this someday)

Yes.

My dad bought a new car and I got his old one. So my current (at the time) 1986 S-10 Blazer went to the garage. After a while, he sold it to someone who's grandmom needed a local driving car.

Two weeks later her idiot grandson wrecked it. If I could have bought it and stored it, I would. Or go back in time and take it.

You have to at least make an offer. Buy it and throw a tarp on it until you can get to it. That's a rare opportunity. Would love to get my hands on my old 1980 z28. Ohhhh the memories.

91 Chevy Cheyenne in baby blue. Had the V6 and manual trans. I'd love to have it so Silvy could help with an LS swap. I'd slam it and teach the kids how to drive a manual, although I'm not sure I'd be able to let them have it as their first and risk losing it again.

I don't want any car I've ever owned back. I would have liked to have kept a couple that I traded in, but not enough to have kept them for the long term.

The only car that my family has had that I would like now is my parent's '74 Cadillac that I've talked about on here before. Sedan de Ville, maroon partial white vinyl roof (only bad thing about it). Leather interior. Don't know what made my dad splurge for that car, though he did buy it used. That thing took everything we threw at it and then some -- my mom driving it (!), a skunk attack (long story), MANY road trips, who knows how many batteries and sets of tires. I don't think it was ever on the rack except for a set of whitewalls. With its 490-ish engine (whatever the Caddy model was), it wasn't stellar quick off the line but it went from 50-90 as fast as just about anything I've driven since. And smooth. Caddy did that electric power steering thing well.

Back when Caddy and GM actually made good cars.

That car is worth $2000 non running on its best day, more likely $1000-1500. Sorry the current owner is crazy.

I would. '72 Gran Torino, had a 402 that I had to turn the idler screw up in the winter to keep it from dying at stop lights. I got a speeding ticket at 17 yo for going through a school zone at 28 mph, without touching the gas peddle once.

no. 1995 jeep wrangler with a 4 cylinder and no AC. i loved it at the time, but wouldn't own it again. instead i scratched that itch with a 2014 JKU. it was fun, but i got tired of how loud it was and how poorly it performed on the highway and got rid of it.

Probably not, mine was a 66 Mustang with the inline 6 and a 3 speed manual, I'd pay the $2200 my dad sold it for in 1991 (that was a good price at the time) but it was underpowered even then, I'd probably have to drop some cash to put a V8 in it just to make it enjoyable to drive.

I do miss my 1990 Dodge Daytona ES though, it had the 3.0 V6 and could move reasonably well, nothing special though, just some good times with that car.

Yes. Maybe. Perhaps.

Had a '69 VW Bus that was a hand-me-down from my brother. Piece of crap. Drank oil. Was a great party van/beach van/lake van/musical equipment hauler. Turning it into something cool would be good.

Immediately after the VW engine died I had a '63 Impala with a 327. To have that car back and have it restored would be amazing.

It wasn't my first car, but half way through high school I bought an '87 K-5 Blazer. I'd buy it back in a heartbeat if it was in anywhere near decent condition or better. It would be worth 3x what I sold it for today.

Not all of us had a First National Bank of Mom and Dad credit card to get whatever we wanted for our first car.
