Was just thinking of this the other day as my center console lid slowly rose after I hit a bump in my 2015 Tundra...what are the things that no matter the make/model seem to break on every vehicle you own?

My previous truck was a 2009 Silverado, and the two annoying things that went out on that truck (power door lock actuators and center console latch) are also the only two things that have gone wrong with my Tundra.

Rear view mirrors falling off used to be my peeve, but these new fancy mirrors appear to hold up better

Well I'm currently trouble shooting a door lock actuator and my rear view mirror fell off two days ago …. So I guess I'm part of the club.

At 15-16 years old it's all the plastic parts that have been breaking lately on my truck.

EVERY vehicle or model specific?

Model specific, old Ford Expeditions always lost suspension on one side Chevy/GMC trucks and SUVs also seem to lose 1 daytime headlight with 6 weeks of purchase

Plastic tailgate handle on old Tundra's. We have replaced ours several times and I'm happy they are very cheap.

That's how I usually tell a GMC is driving at me - it has one daytime driving light.

The only common failure items of any two cars I've owned have been headlight bulbs.

With the Celica it's been crappy door lock motors
With the Acura it needed a new starter at some point and something is either draining the battery/car not charging enough
The F-100 is over 50 years old so that doesn't count

Dodge Ram dashboards. I had a 2003 3500 and the dash disintegrated into small pieces.

I had a steering wheel air bag clock spring go out on both a 2007 Tundra and my 2020 Silverado (when it had under 400 miles). I don't know if that's a part that goes out commonly or just a coincidence that it happened to me twice on different vehicles.

Anything that operates on friction.

Aside from that

Alternators, starters, transmissions, headlights, climate knobs, wheel bearings, radiators, belt tensioners, long list

Running 2002, 2004, and 2006 GMC pickups.

The DRL socket is crap, and melts/burns out. You can find heavy duty replacements on Amazon, then use LED bulbs to lower heat on the plugs.

100% cure, lasts for years.

Sucks that you have to do it, but there is an easy cure.

Blend door actuator for all Ford trucks.

Seems every GM has issues with the dash peeling.

And obligatory every dodge seems to have issues related to a ball of fire.

And some more universal issues, but I haven't really noticed them as much the last 5+ years.

Door lock actuators. Windows coming off their tracks.

Windsheilds.

Some are worse than others, but eventually you'll have a broken windsheild. My 02 Excursion would have new cracks every spring. I guess there was enough contraction and expansion in that truck to stress the glass.

On my grand cherokee I had multiple cables snap on the window regulator, dropping the window down into the door seal. Two of three times was the driver door. I smoked at the time and likely it failed more due to the constant lowering a couple of inches. Tack one more negative on to the nasty habit.

Knock on wood I've only lost 1 lock accuator on my tundra but that was only a year ago so I'm sure it'll happen again. The motor in them is known to be underpowered/overworked.

Staff - take out the trash.
