How long do you want to ignore this user?
I have a basic Rexing V1 dash cam that I used in my old vehicle for a year or so. I bought a new truck about a month ago and after installing it in the new truck, I noticed a problem. Not sure when the problem started as I rarely took out the dash cam to view footage.

I have it doing 10 minute loops. Every time I start my truck, it creates a new file every 10 minutes as expected. However, when I take the memory card out, I noticed that only the first file created each time the dash cam is powered on will play back. All subsequent files will not play. I've tried it on multiple computers. Same issue on all.

Has anyone encountered this issue?. Was it a simple fix? I'm cheap and don't want to waste money a new memory card if that won't fix the problem.

Have you tried updating the firmware?

Also have you formatted or replaced the card?

A new memory card wouldn't hurt either. The heat kills them.

What they said above.

You can try to reformat the card first but likely the card is fried from summer heat

I just found a new unused card in my house. I tried it this morning. Same problem.

I tired updating the firmware last night. Not sure if that worked.

It seems it's always the last video that won't play. So if I have it on a 3 minute loop and drive for 7 minutes, I'll have 3 video files: two 3 minutes ones and one 1 minute one. The 1 minute one will not play. The two 3 minute ones will.

That sounds like the power is being cut to the camera before it has a chance to finalize the last file.

Next time manually power down the camera versus having it automatically shut off with the vehicle and see the last file is correct.

Usually an internal battery source will compensate for this by allowing the camera 30 seconds or more to power down when the vehicle is shut off, if your cam's battery/capacitor is shot then it's not allowing the final file to be closed out before it completely shuts down.

Did you format your new card with the camera? Most cameras format FAT32 but most only loosely follow the standard so have issues unless the device formatted it. If they support EXFAT the compatibility is likely even worse.
Also Western digital now has purple SD cards that have wear leveling so have far better endurance. Make sure not to buy one to big for your device many Chicom cameras don't like >32GB cards.

I think you're onto something here. I'll try this tomorrow shutting it down manually before I cut the car off. If the battery/capacitor is shot, does that mean only a new dash came will fix the problem? If so, bummer. This dash cam isnt all that old. 2 years tops. It doesn't seem to stay on as long as it used to after I cut power. Just a few seconds when it used to be about 30 seconds. I could be wrong though.

Usually a capacitor is supposed to withstand heat better than the battery.

You could probably pry it open and replace the battery if you're handy with a soldering iron, but Rexing cameras are what? Sub 100 dollars?
