If you're doing any heavy duty pulling (i.e. over 7500lb), I really suggest a look at the 2.7L Ecoboost.

Its one of my favorite engines.

Come by the house sometime or I can swing by and let you drive mine.

I agree the 2.7 is a great motor and doesn't seem to have the infamous cam phaser/timing chain issue that the 3.5 has. My 2015 f150 was a 2.7 and I had no complaints about it.

Just for shats and giggles I went to the Ford build and price site earlier to build an F150. I found out you can't get a 2.7 with 4x4. If you try to select 4x4 it takes away the 2.7 and makes you select 5.0, 3.5, or Powerboost for the engine.

So I built a loaded out lariat 5.0 and it came out to $67k. GEEEEEZE. For ~$10k more I can upgrade to an HD truck, get 2.5x more torque, and maintain more value when I rack up a ton of miles on it.

Yes now is the perfect historical time to upgrade to a heavy duty diesel truck for those occasional Home Depot runs

The truck market is probably not going to get much better for at least 2 years. If you can hold your breath that long, more power to you but some people might not be able to.

The 2.7L is available in Super Crew 4WD but only with the 5.5' bed

This seems especially true when you consider the impact any new stimulus bills will have to an already tight market. Will high gas prices be enough to offset all the other demand?

Ah that explains why. I had 6.5' bed selected. My current truck is a 6.5' bed and I use it so much I'm not sure I could ever go back to a 5.5' bed.
