Firestone Destination LE3

As fate would have it, a rock penetrated my truck's rear passenger tire on a gravel driveway (client site). The pics show how big it was.

I slapped on the spare and took it to Firestone the next day for replacement. The OEMs are Bridgestone Alenza A/S 02; I've been pleased with them thus far, but they're only sold oem or special order. I was offered the Dueler H/L Alenza Plus or the LE3. FYI, I drive a 2019 Chevy Silverado RST, and tire size is 275/60/20.

I've had both the Dueler and LE2 on a previously truck, and I actually preferred the LE2. The LE3s are supposedly far superior and big upgrade from the LE2, so I slapped it on the replacement. I'm thinking about finishing out the other three tires when I need eventual replacement.

Anyone have experience with the LE3?

I really dislike the OEM ALenza on the new silverado.

The LE3 is a very good tire for the price IMO.

They appear to be very soft and easily prone to damage. I've seen several people complain about the same thing you are experiencing.

Also the wet traction and braking seems to be subpar.

Treadlife also doesn't look very promising either.

Yeah, I'm miffed at the rock penetration. They are indeed somewhat soft, but they've been very comfortable, quiet, and smooth (typical Bridgestone). They also look great. That said, I'd rather not see weird damages; they remind me of the 684 IIs that came OEM on my Tahoe back on '07.

I know this board is made up of Michelin Defender LTX fanboys, but I personally find that others are just as viable and in the same ballpark from a quality standpoint. I'm hoping that the LE3s could be one.

I had some BStone Alenzas on my first Yukon in '08. Best tires I have ever had on a truck, got a solid 70K from them. When I got my '16, it had Alenzas, too, but they were far softer and lasted far less miles, basically had to replace at 33K. The tread compound was softer, probably quieter, but much less durable. I did not go back with Alenzas, and do not have them on my current Yukon. They went from being a great tire to being pretty disappointing OEM tires in 7 years.

There are many alenzas.

Dueler HL, HL Plus, and the S02.

I've had LE3's since last June and have been happy with them

Got 32K on mine now. Will be stunned if I get 50K.

I don't think they're terrible. Quiet. Haven't had water traction issues. But definitely the tread life of a normal OE tire.

I have LE3s on my Touareg and they have been great. They drove well during the Texas Snowstorm of 2021.

I took advantage of a summer deal and slapped on 3 remaining LE3s. My oems were showing wear, so I figured that it was time. They feel solid this far.
