Any burn out trophies?

More like trophies for who drives their car the least and wipes it down in the garage the most.

valve cover racing

Is this an activity? A brand name? An escort company? Or something else?
woodyhayes

Its a real activity and pretty kewl. The ladies have big fun with it painting and decorating a valve cover with wheels. They send them down a ramp and the one that goes the furthest, wins. No burnouts, sorry.

I would love to see Cleetus McFarland show up with Leroy and Ruby to an event like this. I wonder how they would be received.

the_batman26: I guess yall need this, its something to take pride in. At least the Feds trusted us with the Space Center; and I seem to recall the Feds not having the best time in Dallas.

On an unrelated matter, why is there zero inventory at dealers for new Vets?
The Fife

My guess is that it's related to general automaker production problems that have been going on for the better part of a year now. All caused by a bunch of supply chain issues.

What is the average age of the corvettes that normally participate?
woodyhayes
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'd say the C6's 2005-2013 or the C7's. Have some from the 50's and 60's, will probably be 10-15 of them, about the same for the 70's and 80's, few pace cars, and restos, maybe 5-10 2020's, modified, stock, etc. Expecting 125- 150 total. Big groups coming from DFW and New Orleans/Gulfport/Biloxi.

C8 production was basically cut in half the last two years and when doubled with the highest demand due to the redesign and people wanting toys it has caused a massive supply issue. This has rippled all the way down the generations of vettes. C7 Zo6's are going for new prices. C6's are going for 30% more than two years ago.

It's going to take a few years to normalize. Right now the base model C8 that was suppose to start at $59k is going for over $90k and there's a waiting list. It's crazy.

Let's not forget all of the typical GM failures in this vehicle that reduced the volume of new C8s hitting the streets.

Like the "flying frunk" recall where the front trunk opens while driving and completely block's the driver's view. This led to a recall and a stop delivery order last summer.

And also the brake sensor failures that led to another stop delivery order right after that for the C8 Corvettes and many other GM models.

Is any of that a bad thing (except maybe driving slow)?

Isn't 55 about the horsepower of an '82 vette?

Wife has an 82 collector edition all original, numbers matching. They weren't made for speed thats for sure.

That's what I have, with all the options including the t-top carriers and factory CB radio (38,000 original miles). I have it because that was the seemingly unattainable car in the nearby Chevy showroom my senior year of high school. Its definitely the car Disco Stu would have picked. It might be slower than my 2016 Navigator though. (disclaimer: this is just a photo from the internet - but all '82 collectors editions share this exact color and decals).

C3 is gorgeous. Had one for about 7 years. They had some pretty potent power until 75? The 427 and 454 were pretty stout.

You are missing a low mileage odometer because this one is a collectors items since it was 1 of 3 that had this particular option configuration.
Other than that is it perfect.
