How long do you want to ignore this user?
I have a 2019 Pilot 2wd rated to tow 3500 lbs from the factory as long as I add the after market ****** cooler. Probably should have bought the AWD model but didn't think we'd be in a position to buy a boat this quickly. The wife wants a 22' pontoon boat which from initial research seems to be around 1800 lbs typically plus trailer. Do y'all see any issue with this set up? My only concern with the 2wd would be getting up slippery ramps but the one I'd probably go to most of the time is pretty flat.

I'd hate to change out vehicles 2 years in, especially since this one is paid off and fits in my garage and I like everything else about it.

Thanks.

How far will you be towing? I would be worried a bit by the length and wind drag from a big pontoon.

Yea that's kind of what I'm worried about too. It'd 10 or 15 miles tops each time out.

I wouldn't pull it with a FWD model.

Then you are likely just fine if you can get it up the ramp. Don't even need the trans cooler.

I personally think it's a bad combination. I think at the very least I would get a weight distribution hitch to try and help keep your FWD tires on the ground, especially on a boat ramp.

Good advice thanks. If it doesn't work well we'll just keep it at a marina.

Yeah, the vehicle can tow it. It'll depend on the ramp how dicey it is getting up it but I've seen some crazy tows work before.

I helped a buddy launch his 18ft boat using his 2009 fwd traverse. You'll be fine

I guess my backup option if the Pilot doesn't end up working is sell it and get a 4Runner. It'll still fit in the garage and the 4wd with a truck chassis would do the trick.

Towing you'll probably be fine, however, I'd be hesitant to try that on a steep boat launch. FWD towing is less than ideal.

I've never personally launched with a FWD vehicle, but I'm guessing unless your lake level fluctuates a lot the tires with stay on the dry pavement and you'll be just fine.

Username checks out ha. Thanks.

Our lake is constant level and the ramp we would use doesn't have much slope on it and isn't very long so I'm guessing it'd be fine. I talked to the wife yesterday and she agreed that if it doesn't work out we'll sell it and get something else.
