I asked this in another thread, but wanted to throw it out to the board as I'm going to need new tires very soon. I'm trying to decide between these two tires for my 2018 GMC 2500HD Duramax in size 275/65 R20. I am currently running the BFG KO2s, but they are not the DT version and have worn fairly quickly... <44k miles on them and are needing replacement.

I like the look of both of these tires, and have always assumed I'd just go with the KO2 DTs when the time came because I really like them (and have gone through a few sets on different trucks), but the Ridge Grapplers have come to my attention lately so I want to be sure to cover my bases.

KO2 DT:
- Discount Tire rated "Best"
- 50k mile warranty

RG:
- Discount Tire rated "Better"
- no mileage warranty

Have you rotated your ko2s every 5k?

Yes, rotated at every oil change, somewhere between 6-7k miles.

There is an $80 rebate on the Nitto's right now as well.

Yep, that puts them at the same price as the BFGs.

Anyone with any opinions on how well each of these should perform and hold up to use on a 3/4 ton truck with occasional towing?

I run these on my Duramax and love them.

The KO2s apparently had a tread compound issue when they first came out and guys were running them on 3/4 and 1 tons. I never had an issue with my first set on a half ton and went 62K before i replaced the set due to a nail in the sidewall on one of them.

The new ones shouldn't give you any issues and I would pick them over the nittos, if longevity is the main driver. I have no experience with the ridge grapplers but I don't like the tread pattern on them and question how slick they are on wet roads... might not be an issue at all.

Good luck!

That's interesting, for my size they were about the same price without the rebate. I hadn't realized that each variation in size has a different price point from the manufactures. Thought they would all be about the same as far as cost but I guess they all have their own sweet spot.

I hear Goodyear's are all the rage right now.

I put these in my truck. Got discount to match the Walmart price, saved about $45 a tire.

Meh, they aren't that great regardless of how you feel about that comment. It has been a long time since goodyear made a tire I liked... the wrangler M/TR to be exact and they weren't even that great.

Have run both the BFGs & Ridge Grapplers. Like 'em both...Currently have Ridge Grapplers on my 3500 Denali. (SRW)...no complaints at all. Highway, in town, gravel/dirt, rain, dry...no issues. I do prefer the Ridge Gs based on looks... Good luck!

I'm just a big fan of the KO2's in general (no experience with the DT compound).

Have not had the Ridge grapplers but have used the Terra grapplers.

Also have had the Falken AT3's. Really liked them but they consistently run heavier. Like 10 lbs per tire heavy!

All good tires and don't think you'd be disappointed with any. Personally I'd go KO2's out of preference but plenty of others would give the edge to Nitto with perfectly fine reasons.

I have put KO2s on two different trucks. One was my old F150 in load range E and they were stiff but needed because of the mud/thorns at the deer lease. Put load range C on my new Tacoma TRD Off Road, and have not had them in the thorns yet, but they have balanced better than ANY tire i have put on a vehicle. Disclaimer that I put the TRD Sema 4runner wheels on the Tacoma to get the larger diameter rims in order to get the load range C KO2s. No vibration from 0-100, whatsoever. And they ride better than stock by far.

"Green" is the new RED.

I'm shocked truck tires last 44k miles. I'm lucky if the Pilot Sports on my sedan last 25k.

Thanks for the reminder.
I'm at about 6K on my new Wrangler and forgot to rotate my tires so far.

I have 3 vehicles with the same size Ridge Grapplers and one with same size TOYO.
The RGs are WAY quieter.

Another vote for RGs

We run Toyo Open Country CT's on all
Our crew trucks. The AT's get all sliced up from running down gravel roads. CT's are noisier but hold up well
