I'm looking to self install a hard truck bed cover on a GMC short bed. I'm leaning towards the three fold design. Any suggestions on brand or other styles I may have overlooked? I've looked at the Tonneau Bakflip and they seem nice, however they have about four different 3 fold style that all look exactly the same and I can't really understand the difference between them....

I liked the revolver X4.

I've had a Diamondback HD on my Ram 2500 for 5 years. It's a beast!

Bakflip MX4 is great.

Easy install. Easy use. Been water tight for me so far after 18 months.

I don't have one but I've been researching covers as well lately looking to purchase soon as I get a new truck.

Lomax is the way I'm leaning right now. I think it's easily removable and can be put on and taken off very quickly. The backflip is nice also but the drain tube thing just seems kinda crappy hassle to me. I dunno.

Curious to read other responses.

The drain was a hassle for about 7.2 seconds during installation. I have no need or desire to take my cover on and off so I don't even notice it's there.

YMMV

I like to design of the Lomax. I looked at the Bakflip and Paragon as well. Lomax seems it be the best of both worlds.

Now, I just need to sell my Leer Tonneau that's on the truck now so I can get a trifold.

I've had a Bakflip MX4 on my 2016 F150 for close to 4 years now.
Problem free. Keeps bed dry. Zero complaints

Check in with Luke at Truckalterations.com when you decide. Price and delivery hard to beat.

I was deciding between Bakflip mx4 and Lomax. I went with mx4 and didn't bother with the drain tubes. It is still a truck, not a sedan. It doesn't leak though. I saw the mx4 on a lot of trucks, and I liked how it looked.

I have the Bakflip because the previous owner installed it and I've really enjoyed having it. If I was shopping from scratch I'd take a long look at the rolling bedcover, they're lockable and pretty slick. But I think the cost would deter me in the end, I'd buy a bakflip and call it a day

I've watched a video on it and if you can lift 30lbs then any idiot can do it

I have a Bakflip and its been great overall, but I will say that if you have to frequently access the entire bed or anything close to the cab it becomes a PITA real fast. I had this one on for a couple of years before I started using this truck for work. Now that I do and have to regularly get to things near the cab it kind of sucks. The rolling kind would be better for me now, but not sure I'd shell out the money for one.

Bought the gatortrax and it's been great. Easy install.
Wanted the diamondback but couldn't justify with extra $800 plus

Had my undercover flex a little over three years. No problems

A little water gets in around the tailgate now but it's very minor. Took 2.5 years for it to happen

I have the Undercover Flex on an F150. Fairly easy to install myself with a little help from my son getting the bigger pieces in place. I've had it on for over a year. No issues. It is comparable to the bakflip, but about $200 less.

Check out TruckAlterations.com . Luke Kyle made me a great deal on it, well below MSRP and it shipped to my house in 2-3 days. He was recommended on here or Outdoor board.

Yep. Went on in about 45 minutes on initial install.
