How long do you want to ignore this user?
Gentlemen and ladies,
I have just decided, after all of these years, to attempt this. I am above average in mechanical skills but not quite sure what I will need to do this. It's a 2017 and I'm a little nervous. I could see me completely screwing this up causing more damage. I've watched a few videos but still don't feel comfortable.

My question is what tools do I need exactly. A simple vise or something else? I figure I should go with OEM? I plan on just doing the front.

Vehicle has 75,000 miles on it and have felt something in the pedal. Should I just do pads or replace the rotors as well.

I'm sure some of you could do this in your sleep but any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thank you all
Picard

You can't work on your own brakes on any car made after 2005. It's not safe!

It's a piece of cake. Go ahead and replace the rotors as well - they are cheap enough. Lubricant on the back of the pads and make sure the caliper pistons are greased and operating freely.

Certain brand I should go with?

I like Wagner TC for pads and Bosch for rotors. Amazon and/or rock auto.

I've worked on smaller things, specifically small engine motors and zero turns. This is my first time going into something that if I screw it up it could be dangerous. I guess I should have worded the question differently. Is there something specific I need to have, tool wise to do this job.

Pads on F150 are inboard and outboard specific.

It will be obvious when you look at them.

I'm no longer recommending Wagner OEx, but I do still recommend TQ.

I have switched to Oreillys premium house brand pads and found them to be superior than the OEx. They're made by Bosch.

Someone needs to link the thread for old times sake. Note I said "link" not "bump".

Good grief!

I have done mine many times replacing pads and rotors.

It really is cheaper to just get new rotors, The hassle of getting them turned is not worth it.

DO NOT get wagner OEx. I installed them and replaced after about a month. They squeal horribly. Go oem.

Get a brake piston press/spreader from AZ or amazon. I`ve done it 3 times now and use new pads and new rotors. They only other pecial tool i needed once was an impact driver to pound loose a seized nut on a honda rotor.

It's not difficult, will just take extra time the first time you do it.
