I'm also convinced that the Mercedes has been 'shopped into this photo.

The rear end seems awkwardly distorted. The reflection of the sky in the rear window is off. The reflection of the car in the glass doors does not match an S-Class. There seems shadows of two different darknesses under the car. And the shadow to the left of the car doesn't follow the shape of the car.

Edit: on second look, the reflection in the doors does match an S-class.

I think I found the shop. I searched "commercial listings dripping springs tx" and looked at commercial listings until I saw a similar building, then checked Google Maps streetview.

Here's the Hays County CAD listing.

The interior pictures show a significantly higher ceiling than the exterior.

Use the garage door for measurement. Not even close.

Interior shots the door is in the middle. That one's not.
Giving the benefit of the doubt, it could be a rear door. But see how much space from the top of the door to the ceiling on the exterior and interior and they are clearly different buildings.

Interior shot in the OP is supposedly from the Barton Creek building, exterior shots are from the Dripping Springs building

The fact he said he picked up the Dripping Springs building in October when it was originally purchased by the company in August 2018 is a plot hole

Actually, I was going to ask why there are four De Tomaso Panteras sitting in the garage. Seems like an odd choice.

I didn't think it was and I'm still not sure, but take a look at the driver side doors of the car. There is a reflection of the pavement on them. That SEEMS odd for a car that's side is on the shadow side of a bright day. Especially given the other objects in the picture that are in shadows -- the doors, the shrubs, etc. They are pretty dark.

However, there may be a good explanation for that.

GS -- take a look and let me know if that's an issue.

I don't think that Benz was photoshopped into that photo, and it certainly wasn't photoshopped in with someone as bad of skills as MFBarnes.

What do you think of this? You are probably better at interpreting it than I am. Check out the ELA.

Looks fine. Getting the shadows on the car to match the building and looking realistic would be very hard. The car looks funny, but that could be software distortion correction. Lightroom has a lot of distortion correction adjustments. Plus sleek car and a wide angle lens.

My real question would be:

If you owned tons of McLarens, GT3RS, C2 Stingrays, etc -

Why did you get a used S550 leased. Not new. Not owned.

Not an S600. Not a Maybach. Not a S63AMG or 65AMG.

Should it be "shops" instead of "shop?" Those aren't the same building?

The only shots that are not at the shop are obviously at the track. All of them are stored in the same shop.

The photos of the McLaren are definitely from a different building than the overall photo taken from above.

I guess it is possible "the shop" has different buildings: one for storage and one for actual work.

Both McLaren's are in the same shop, just different sections. The section where the track McLaren is is directly beneath where I took the photo from above. 20,000 sq.ft..

No, it's not the same shop. The reflection in the door shows the flat ceiling going all the way across the shop. Nice try, troll.

The duct work isn't even the same.

Can anyone from Dripping Springs confirm that the city uses blue and brown bins for trash and recycling, respectively?

I think the smaller brown can is actually for trash. The big blue one is for recycle. I think that's how it is in some of the areas around Austin.

And ANOTHER name on the red car in this pic. Damn, guess I gave up may ability to get a private tour.

My friend here in Austin actually does race Porsche's at COTA on the reg. I can show him these pics and he'll know straight away who actually owns these cars.
Yeah, ask him if there's a morbidly obese guy who looks like a serial killer who races them. TIA!

The building is the old kid's bounce house place (Jump Wild) next to the Frog Pond distillery. I drive by it all the time. Not sure if it houses exotic cars or not.

Also, our bins are green with different color tops. The blue and tan are City of Austin trash cans....

This type of stuff is what I come to Texags for, its greatness.

That said, just a couple of observations from the outside looking in, and I have no knowledge of the high performance car world.

- it would be very silly if this guy is Barnes to continue to use screen names that so closely tie him to MFBarnes, with the similar initials in MBUSA. But Barnes has proven through the years that despite having been caught and called out, to continue drinking from the same wells, using the same names, aliases, and sites to post on.

- OP never said the place in Dripping Springs was where the cars were, just that he ALSO had that place, recently purchased. The transaction data on the CAD may not show that transaction, but it's also highly possible that in just a couple of months, in a small county, they just haven't gotten around to updating the website. Or maybe it's just an annual thing and it will be updated to the new owner at the turn of the year. Just a possibility.

- There are different names on the cars, but I don't see where he ever claimed to be the driver, just owner. Penske's name isn't written over the door of his NASCAR's, just the drivers name. Maybe MBUSA just owns them and has a team of drivers that do the racing? On one of the cars y'all were pointing out the names, it looks like there was a name, it was covered over and another name sticker placed below it, as if a driver originally slated for that car couldn't so they had an alternate that day or something. My folks have a friend with a pretty impressive car collection. Nothing close to what OP is claiming, but nice. And he owns a couple of little racecars they run at Texas Motor Speedway that look like little 30's era gangster cars with a glorified go-cart engine. He owns them, but his adult sons drive them, and those are the names on the cars. The last names at least match, but like I said, OP may hire professionals to drive his race cars. Just one possible explanation for the name issue.

I agree, there are a lot of holes in this story, but some seem like merely coincidences. I'm not a photoshop expert, but all the exterior photos of the Dripping Springs shop seem consistent, and again, he hasn't claimed to have included any of the interior shots from that location, just an unnecessary claim that he also has that place in the works.

I will be eagerly awaiting a conclusion to this if it ever comes, because this sort of stuff is just hilarious. I hope the OP didn't get jumped on for nothing.

I'm the one who actually sort of "broke" this story and I agree with you. If it's a troll by MFBarnes (and I believe it is), then it is an extremely deep and involved troll job. Especially if you dig back into his many posts here on the auto board and politics board.

- he said the building is in Dripping Springs. It is.
- he has a photo of what appears to be the same Mercedes (at least very similar color and year model, tag which might be shopped in) in front of the building in Dripping Springs, and in a parking garage in Dallas. The photo from Dallas was also used on a Mercedes owners forum.
- that tag number is for a used Mercedes lease which seems odd for a high roller like MBUSA is posing to be, but whatever.
- there are tenuous clues that lead to an Austin attorney who (you guessed it) owns a restaurant, hotel, and has patents for medical billing stuff. The Dripping Springs building is owned by a med billing related company.

If it is MFBarnes, then he went deep into assuming this dude's identity, I think.

But go all the way back to the first post that made me suspect MBUSA was Barnes..... He hijacked ezmoney's rule 1 thread and inserted bragging photos of his Mercedes DD and his multiple McClarens. That is such Barnes behavior.

Then after I posted my suspicions on the Outdoor board, he follows up with his own thread about his shop and race cars. Classic Barnes m.o.

The behavior is uncanny.

I don't know how he got the photo of the Mercedes at the dripping springs building and matched it all up, but he did. It's Barnes.

The next time he goes out there, all he has to do is write "MBUSA" on a sheet of paper, put it on one of the cars and take a picture of the garage.

He doesn't have to expose his personal information,... although he has disclosed the future location of millions of dollars worth of cars and he can squash these terrible rumors once and for all.
