2016 2.7l boost. 133,000 miles, trouble free until now.
Started making a racket last week right after I drove through some construction and caked the undercarriage in crud. Had the shop check it and they thought water pump. Washed the truck and it started sounding normal again. Drove to Austin for meeting yesterday and the noise came back with a vengeance, louder than ever. Kind of sounded like when you leave a fork in the garbage disposal. Heard a belt screech and the "charging system fubar" light came on. 1 mile to the shop so limped it on in and she's hot as hell pulling in. Alternator completely locked up, threw the serpentine belt. FYI, alternators aren't reasonably priced anymore... $750 for the part!! Autozone had reconditioned ones for over $650 so u don't think the shop was inflating the price of a new one to screw me.
