With the GT40 MkII, Ford locked out all three steps of the podium, embarrassing Ferrari at a race it had come to dominate in previous years. Ferrari got its revenge at the 1967 Daytona 24 Hours, locking out the podium with a gorgeous trio of prototypes, but that's a story for a later date.
