Gladly, some folks find history inspiring, and that's how we found ourselves in St. Petersburg, Florida for the public unveiling of the 454-hp 2019 GMC Syclone, a revival tribute to the original truck that's put together by Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE) of Toms River, New Jersey.

Unfortunately...

So basically double the price...

Pretty much. But not that surprising since that seems to be the way all "performance" versions are priced nowadays.

Still a good looking truck though.

so it takes that treatment to make the ride height what it should be on the base truck.

It's amazing how big midsize trucks are these days. Looks more like a full-size GMT400 in that setup. I'd love to see it parked next to a '90 S-10.

Can't give you that comparison, but here is a 2016 Tacoma beside a 1999 Tacoma. It isn't just trucks either. My wife's 2008 4runner was way bigger than her 2000, and the new ones make her 2008 look small.

Because dimensionally they're within inches of the same size. it makes me laugh at people who complain about the new Bronco being built on the Ranger platform which is around the same size as the 90s full size trucks/broncos.

2019 colorado

212" long
70.6 high
74.3 wide
128 wheelbase
4479 pounds

1990 S-10 (compared to Colorado)

194 long - minus 18
61 high - minus 9.6
64 wide - minus 10.3
122 WB - minus 6
3500 pounds - minus 979

1990 C-10

212 long - even
70 high - minus .6
76 high - plus 1.7
131 wb - plus 3
4000 pounds - minus 479

Obviously, these vary based on configuration. A few years ago, daughter came by with her 2016 3/4 ton. It was bigger than a 2002 3/4 we had, which was bigger than the 2000.

Morons.

If they didn't price it that much higher, they would likely sell the ever living crap out of them.

That is ridiculous. Not a total of 40k, but an ADDITIONAL 40k? F that

It's also too fat, and slower than the original.

What a stupid waste of time.

IMO, they could have made it better and cheaper, but I have no doubt all 100 are already purchased.

Wasn't the Colorado/Canyon still tiny a few years ago? Like why not just get a Corolla tiny?

The 10 speed trucks will take this to gapplebees no problem. Especially the 4x4 models.

The new Edelbrock kit puts down 600 rwhp turn key in an otherwise stock truck. It also comes with a free 3yr/36K mile powertrain warranty.

You could put that on a rcsb truck and still be under $40K.
