Curious if anyone has upgraded a stock EZGO TXT48 motor to a FSIP or Plumquick motor? Was it pretty easy? See a big difference in torque from stock motor? I am looking to get a little more torque in the mid range speeds (10-20mph) and a little more power on steep hills. I live in TN and our neighborhood is hilly so on some of the hills I dip down to around 8mph (even lower with 4 riders).

I just upgraded to an Alltrax500 controller and 400 solenoid which boosted my top end speed from 19 to 29mph. Not really looking to get more top end speed just more torque. I have adjusted the settings in the controller software and 500amps is all I can do on my stock motor. So Max motoring armature amps is set to 500.

Just wanted to know if anyone has swapped out the motor before and the results (difficulty in replacing and performance results).

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

It's a very easy swap. Just put it in tow and disconnect the battery pack from the cart (main neg then main pos) before disconnecting the motor - short one of the live wires and you'll fry the controller. Label all motor cables.

I've never bought a flight systems motor but have bought many pq. Most look to pq for speed not torque, while flight systems would offer a "torque motor". If I were you I'd call Robbie at pq (he's the owner), tell him what you want to do, and get his opinion. He loves to talk shop and is honest about what his motors will do. They really do quality work.

Great feedback! Thank you.

Is it a 2 man job to lift and bolt in or something one guy can do?

I will give PB a call. I do not need to gain speed but I don't want to lose any either. My main objective is torque getting up hills and things...

One man can do it, but the motor is a little heavy and gets awkward when you unbolt it. Two people would make it easier. Take a look on youtube for references. Just hope it's not seized on the shaft, I've done 3-4 of those and they suck.

Worst case is you put it on jack stands, remove both tires, and remove the back leaf spring bolts (and lower shock bolts) to lower the axle for easier access (this is necessary for Club Cars as they have less room).
