Outback but make sure she keeps in mind she always needs extra time pulling into traffic and don't bother trying to pass on two lane roads. Those things are so slow.
Our 2018 has plenty of pick up. When is the last time your drove one?
My mother has a 2015 model 2.5L, I've driven it from time to time. Is your's a 3.5L?
Nope. 2.5. And its got a good bit more pick up than my Tacoma or the v6 silverado I had before that. It wont win any races, but its perfectly drivable.
Out of curiosity, whats your DD that youre comparing it to?
Supercharged 5.0 F150, which I know is not a good comparison, but I've had a lot of wheel time in naturally aspirate 4 cylinder rentals and even hybrids. The thing I really noticed about the CVT outback is that it drives pretty normal until you get on it and then nothing really changes from when you were at part throttle. The CVT makes good use of the torque it does have for regular driving, but doesn't leave much in reserve.
